As anticipation for 'Avengers: Doomsday' continues to grow, Robert Downey Jr. recently teased an Iron Man reference connected to Doctor Doom. Ever since Marvel's announcement of Downey Jr as Doctor Doom at the 2024 San Diego Comic Con, speculations about his role in the upcoming MCU movie have been making waves. With Downey Jr. among the most prominent faces in the MCU as Tony Stark, his recasting as Doctor Doom has raised many questions, including the connection between the two characters. Now, with the 'Iron Man' star's recent Instagram post, these speculations have amplified.

Taking to Instagram, Downey Jr. dropped a Thanksgiving post featuring a comic art of Doctor Doom and Iron Man. While the picture does not reveal any faces, it shows the two Marvel characters breaking a turkey's wishbone, a holiday tradition for good luck. The post has reignited a past MCU fan theory that time-travel may be an integral part of the next two 'Avengers' movies, 'Doomsday' and 'Secret Wars'. As per a ScreenRant report, many Marvel fans believe that Iron Man's possible MCU return can be tied to an 'Avengers: Endgame quote', where Captain America says, "You mess with time, it tends to mess back."

However, an official confirmation is yet to arrive in this regard, as all details surrounding 'Avengers: Doomsday' are being kept tightly under wraps by Marvel, and Downey Jr's post might just be invoking good luck for the 'Avengers: Doomsday' release on December 19. As of now, Marvel has only announced the cast members. They include Florence Pugh, Vanessa Kirby, James Marsden, Pedro Pascal, and Alan Cumming, among others.

Notably, this wouldn't be the only time that Downey Jr. teased his role as Doctor Doom. According to a report by Superherohype, the popular actor had posted an image of the comic book DOOM #1 that was published for the first time back in 2024. Captioning the photo as 'Doom workstation essentials', Downey Jr. had also dropped pictures with holiday themes, such as a Doctor Doom mask brimming with chocolates to mark Valentine's Day. In addition to this, images depicting his wife, Susan Downey, as Sue Storm were also posted, along with her mother, Rosie Levin, preparing Doctor Doom's costume for Mother's Day.
