'Invincible' 4's most feared villain just confirmed his return in Season 5 and it changes everything
Amazon Prime's 'Invincible' will have no shortage of big, bad villains when it returns for Season 5. The adult-animated superhero series is known for featuring ruthless villains hell-bent on destroying Earth as Mark Grayson works tirelessly to protect the planet. In Season 4, Mark faced the apex-predator leader of the Viltrum Empire, Grand Regent Thragg. Now, Lee Pace, who lends his voice to the antagonist, has confirmed that he will return for the next season. In an interview with ScreenRant, he made it clear that fans would get to see Thragg again. He said, "We've been talking about it. Yeah, I'm excited about it. There's definitely fun stuff next season."

'Invincible' Season 4 ended with Mark accepting Thragg's proposal to let him and his kind walk among humans on Earth. Thragg is the Grand Regent of an endangered alien race from planet Viltrum. There are only 37 members of the Viltrum Empire left, including Mark's father, Omni-Man. Mark had recurring nightmares about Thragg's potential invasion of Earth to target him specifically. In one of his visions, he saw his mother's head being ripped off by the villain, while he stood defenseless. Thragg proposed that his people, who possess superhuman strength, repopulate peacefully among humans, without being noticed. Mark reluctantly accepted the proposal to keep his loved ones safe.
However, Mark's father also tried to do the same, but it did not end well for his mother, Debbie. She was left alone, betrayed, and emotionally devastated after finding out that her marriage was a cover for a Viltrumite invasion mission. She was even called a 'pet' necessary for the success of Omni-Man's plan. However, in Season 4, Omni-Man finally apologized to Debbie and confessed his love. Debbie punched his chest in anger, visibly hurting her fist, and asked, "Am I still your pet?" He replied, "You never were." By the end of the season, Debbie Grayson hasn't forgiven her husband, but she has acknowledged his attempts at redemption.
Despite living on Earth as Nolan for 20 years and creating a loving family, Omni-Man was true to his mission to weaken Earth's defenses and annex the planet into the Viltrum Empire. Now that humans' genetic compatibility with Viltrumites is clear, their existence on Earth cannot be taken for granted. Mark was well aware of that, which is why he initially impulsively rejected Thragg's proposal. But now it's clear that since the danger is walking among humans, he will have to be vigilant. The Viltrumites might just be waiting for the right opportunity to take over the planet. Thragg gave his word to Mark that he would not hear from him again. However, now that Lee Pace has confirmed his return, fans will definitely get to see the character in the next installment. While there's currently no release date for 'Invincible' Season 5, it has been confirmed that Sandra Oh, Gillian Jacobs, Jason Mantzoukas, Chris Diamantopoulos, Steven Yeun, J.K. Simmons, Seth Rogen, Walton Goggins, and others will voice characters in the upcoming installment.
