'Daredevil: Born Again' Season 2 continues to thrill. Episode 6, titled 'Requiem,' picks up after the explosive events from episode 5. Vanessa Fisk's (Ayelet Zurer) death has already unleashed the violent side of Wilson Fisk/Kingpin (Vincent D'Onofrio), and he has also pulled out of his deal with Mr. Charles (Matthew Lillard). But the major reveal comes in the form of Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones and her daughter, Danielle (Annabelle Ivlev). The introduction to the new character also connects to the future MCU, with Danielle growing up to become the next Captain America in an alt-Marvel Universe.
The introduction opens with a tactical team attacking a suburban house. Unknown to them, it belongs to Jones, and it is later revealed that she has a daughter born between the events of 'Jessica Jones' Season 3 and 'Born Again' Season 2. In the comics, Danielle is the daughter of Jones and Luke Cage (played by Mike Colter in the 'Luke Cage live-action series). This Easter Egg makes a major Captain America connection after Danielle takes over the mantle.
Like her parents, she has heightened strength and abilities, making her another superhero for the future. At the time of writing, the series doesn't hint at any powers for the child, but it does have an impact on Jones. "After Danielle, it just drops out sometimes, then comes back," she says, speaking of her powers. It is shown that her powers fluctuate in a warehouse battle. "I don't think there's an owner's manual for this s**t," Jones says.
In related news, it is confirmed that Colter's Cage and Iron Fist will make an appearance in 'Born Again' Season 3. The latest episode teases his arrival when Jones and Matt Murdock/Daredevil (Matt Murdock) meet on a rooftop looking at a warehouse containing Kingpin's guns. She recollects her conversation with Mr. Charles. "He was interested in people like us," she says, and adds, "I told him to f*** off. Not everyone I know did." This implies that Cage might be working with the antagonist. As for Colter, he teased his return during a recent appearance on Inside of You. "I do think now it's time. I’ve had discussions with Marvel, and I do think that it’s very, very likely that I will come back at some point, but I don’t know when. But I think I will." While the wait continues, fans can catch Seasons 1 and 2 of 'Daredevil: Born Again' on Disney+.
