'Daredevil: Born Again' Season 2 Episode 6 teases Luke Cage's return in the most unexpected way
'Daredevil: Born Again' Season 2 dropped its latest episode on April 21 on Disney+. Episode 6, titled 'Requiem,' featured the much-awaited introduction of Jessica Jones in the crime thriller series. Krysten Ritter's Jones is seen taking down the AVTF agents single-handedly after they barge into her house, where she lives with her biracial daughter, Danielle. Fans relished Ritter's return to the Marvel Universe after seven years, following the end of her standalone Netflix series in 2019. Her entry also poses the question of whether Luke Cage, with whom she was romantically involved, will appear soon to help Matt Murdock end Mayor Fisk's reign over New York City. The Power Man, known for his unbreakable skin and super strength, has been widely speculated to be a part of Season 2, but the news hasn't been confirmed so far.
In Marvel Comics, Cage is the father of Jones's daughter, Danielle. Mike Colter has played the superhero in the MCU and headlined his own series, 'Marvel's Luke Cage,' for two seasons from 2016 to 2018 on Netflix. He also appeared on Marvel's other shows, including 'Jessica Jones' and 'The Defenders.' Furthermore, the actor was spotted filming for the show's third season in New York alongside Ritter and Finn Jones, who plays Danny Rand / Iron Fist, suggesting he may be part of the show's third chapter. On March 3, Colter addressed his return as the Marvel character during Michael Rosenbaum's 'Inside of You' podcast. He teased his impending arrival by saying, "I do think now it's time. I’ve had discussions with Marvel, and I do think that it’s very, very likely that I will come back at some point, but I don’t know when. But I think I will." Since only two more episodes are left in Season 2, fans will have to wait and see if Cage shows up to defend the city.

In Episode 6, Jones reaches out to Murdock and informs him that the CIA operative Mr. Charles tried to recruit her into his superhero team, but she refused. "I told him to f--- off. Not everyone I know did," she says, most likely referring to Cage. If that's the case, his absence in this episode seems to suggest that he's working on a secret project for Charles and possibly his boss, the CIA director Valentina Allegra de Fontaine.
Furthermore, Danielle appears as a young girl in 'Daredevil: Born Again' Season 2, but Episode 6 lays the groundwork for her superhero future. Fans of Marvel Comics may remember that in an alternate universe, she grows up inheriting both her parents' superpowers and becoming Captain America in her world. Jones makes a reference to this by telling Murdock that her powers have become weaker since she gave birth to her daughter, hinting that Danielle has been absorbing her powers. "After Danielle, it just drops out sometimes, then comes back," she says. Matt learns more about the situation when they launch an attack on the warehouse storing Fisk's smuggled guns, and Jessica loses her powers momentarily, suggesting she may not be the formidable ally Matt had hoped for.
