LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: FX's most recent release, 'Clipped', has intrigued the audience with its exploration of one of the biggest sports scandal. Despite the warm response, 'Clipped' will not have another season.
Starring Ed O'Neill as Donald Sterling, the series revisits how a private audio tape of the real-estate mogul led to his downfall.
'Clipped' premiered on Hulu on June 4, 2024 and after offering six intense episodes, the series has wrapped up its run on July 2. With its conclusion, fans wonder if Donald Sterling and V Stiviano's story will be further explored in another season.
Here's why 'Clipped' may not be renewed for another season
'Clipped', based on the ESPN 30 for 30 podcast 'The Sterling Affairs', explores the aftermath of the scandal.
The finale episode depicted how things ended for Donald and Shelly Sterling, V Stiviano, and the Los Angeles Clippers after the scandal became a national headline.
However, fans have been left wanting for more as the finale hints that Stiviano went back to work for Sterling. She also declined the ESPN podcast after being subjected to public humiliation.
Despite V Stiviano's fate being the only point of intrigue, 'Clipped' has summed up the story fairly well in Episode 6, leaving little scope for another season.
'Clipped' was rolled out as a miniseries and there's not much to explore as of now.
Creator Gina Welch or FX haven't also made any announcement or dropped a hint for 'Clipped' Season 2 as yet.
What happens in 'Clipped' Season 1?
'Clipped' explores Donald Sterling's bizarre relationship with his young assistant V Stiviano (played by Cleopatra Coleman) and how a privately recorded conversation led to Sterling's downfall.
Citing Sterling's early signs of dementia, Stiviano used to record all her conversations with him to keep a "record". When one of the audio tapes was leaked in the media, Sterling faced massive backlash and the NBA announced a lifetime ban on him.
NBA also forced him to sell Clippers while also imposing a fine of $2.5 million.
The series also brings a spotlight on Shelly Sterling's (Jacki Weaver) public embarrassment owing to Donald Sterling's extramarital affair and his racist remarks.
She then took charge of the situation and finalized the $2 billion sale of Clippers.
V Stiviano had to give up her duplex and other expensive belongings when the Judge announced a verdict against her in a legal battle against Shelly Sterling.
As for Clippers players and Doc Rivers, they regretted not taking a stand and boycotting the game when they had the chance.
