‘Fallout’ showrunner just hinted Mr House’s story is far from over and we're here for it: ‘We’re excited to...’
The recently wrapped 'Fallout' Season 2 has left many fans hoping for Mr. House's return in the next season, which was officially renewed in May 2025. Played brilliantly by Justin Theroux, Mr. Robert House is showcased as a major power player in the show's second iteration, as he is the ruler of the New Vegas Strip in 2281 and the CEO of RobCo Industries. More intriguingly, he has ties to Cooper Howard's (played by Walton Goggins) past life as a Hollywood actor that the showrunner, Geneva Robertson-Dworet, has assured fans will be explored in the show's future seasons.
While speaking to Nerdist on February 4, the showrunner delighted fans by sharing that House and Coop's relationship will be explored in the next season of the Prime Video series. She elaborated by saying, "I think they have a real history that we’re excited to unearth more of. I think House is deeply fascinated by Coop. And that he can’t quite understand why his algorithm keeps telling him that this figure is so important. And Coop has made a big move that confirms that this season, but is there even more to it? So, we’re excited to keep exploring those two. And I think they’re amazing on screen together, Walton and Justin have such a hilarious, incredible dynamic."
Cooper Howard/The Ghoul and Mr. House meet for a brief scene in 'Fallout' Season 2, but share a past connection that is crucial to the show's central plot. Moreover, the onscreen chemistry between Theroux and Goggins, a highlight of the second season, has only made fans more curious to learn about their backstories. The series has also hinted at House's connection with Coop's wife, Barb, and his role in the armageddon that turned the planet into a nuclear wasteland. As The Ghoul continued his search for his wife and daughter in New Vegas, Mr. House helped him locate their cryogenic vaults in the season 2 finale. House is last seen in a Pip Boy on the floor of Vault-Tec’s New Vegas vault, but in his final moments onscreen, he becomes active on his screen in Lucky 38, promising fans that his story is not over.
As much as fans are excited to see the two actors share screen space together again, both stars are equally thrilled to dive deeper into their characters' history. Theroux, for his part, has said only positive things about acting alongside Goggins. He described their characters as "weird road buddies," while speaking to Nerdist right after the season 2 premiere. Recalling the experience, he said, "We’re really giddy to be playing them together. He’s an old friend, and we just had such a delicious time making those scenes together."
So, there it is! Fans can expect to see more of Mr. House in the show's upcoming seasons. However, this doesn't confirm his return for season 3 yet. We'll just have to wait for the official confirmation from Amazon Prime Video. The third season of 'Fallout' was renewed in May 2025, months ahead of its season 2 premiere on December 16, 2025.
