The movie, which will be the adaptation of Isabelle Ronin's Wattpad hit 'Chasing Red', follows straight-A student Veronica, who wants nothing to do with college heartthrob Caleb's next "conquest," despite their instant attraction, as per Variety. After fleeing a painful past and having nowhere else to go, Veronica ends up living with Caleb, where rising chemistry, hidden secrets, and shifting loyalties turn their slow-burn romance into a mix of love and betrayal.

The 'Chasing Red' film is being produced by Greg Silverman and Grant Torre of Stampede Ventures, along with David Madden and Jason Goldberg of Webtoon Productions, with filming set to begin in early 2026 in Saudi Arabia's AlUla region. As Wattpad's second most popular English-language title with 261 million reads, 'Chasing Red' has already expanded into a successful Webtoon comic with 24 million views, as well as a print novel and a graphic novel.

Stampede Ventures founder and CEO Silverman praised the adaptation, saying, "Mackenzie brings such an elevated, romantic vision to Isabelle Ronin’s captivating love story that developed an astounding following on Wattpad, and Madelaine and Gavin are the perfect actors to finally bring Veronica and Caleb's story to audiences around the world." Mister Smith Entertainment's Shane Kelly said the project has strong global potential, noting, "With compelling romance, high emotional stakes, and a massive built-in fanbase, this is a surefire opportunity for international buyers looking to tap into the same global audience that propelled franchises like After."

Webtoon Productions president Madden added, "With a passionate fanbase and incredible cast, Chasing Red is one of the hottest packages on the market." Talking about Petsch, the actress recently grabbed major attention when she revealed she's actively pursuing the role of Poison Ivy, admitting, "Poison Ivy, it's my dream... We're working on it." She explained that she even dressed as the character for Halloween in hopes of being noticed, saying, "I dressed up as Poison Ivy. I don't remember how many Halloweens ago. Just to get their attention. It's like, 'Hey, Matt Reeves, are we paying attention?'" as per Cinemablend. She added that since "they haven’t made the movie yet," there's still a chance for her to land the role.
