As John Krasinski currently holds the baton in Amazon Prime’s ‘Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan’, one can’t help but reminisce about the previous agents, from Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck, Chris Pine, and finally Krasinski. Each and every portrayal has been an important one, but it’s no surprise that Ford is the cherry on top.
Ford has kept himself busy with some iconic performances this year. Earlier in 2023, he appeared in Apple TV+’s series ‘Shrinking’ alongside Jason Segal and is returning as the famous Indy Jones in ‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny’ with Mads Mikkelsen and Phoebe Waller-Bridge. As ‘Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan’ Season 4 concludes the famous series, one can’t help but wonder if Ford will return as Ryan in the future.
Will Ford return as Ryan?
The last time Ford played Jack Ryan was back in 1992 and 1994 in the movies ‘Patriot Games’ and ‘Clear and Present Danger’ respectively. So, it has been nearly three decades since we have seen Ford in action as Ryan, but according to sources, he will be reprising this role. In an exclusive with Giant Freakin Robot, sources confirmed he is set to return as Ryan in a movie titled ‘Debt of Honor’, which will be an adaptation of the 1994 novel with the same title. As of now, Ford hasn’t confirmed this news, but considering Amazon Prime’s ‘Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan’ is almost here, the buzz around Ford returning will definitely lead to some frenzy.
Was Ford the best Jack Ryan?
This might be a common debate amongst fans, especially since Krasinski is a fan-favorite given his previous involvement with shows like ‘The Office'. Nevertheless, one can’t deny the fact that Ford remains a legend, and between Baldwin, Pine, and Affleck, Ford was the only one to return for a second movie, and now possibly a third. Ford has had some very successful stints with some big franchises over the years, and now as he ends his run as Indiana Jones, maybe it’s time he steps back into the shoes of Jack Ryan. It doesn’t matter who Ford is playing, fans will adore the 80-year-old actor for as long as he’s a part of Hollywood, and beyond.
