Is Melissa Benoist divorcing Chris Wood? Fans devastated by couple's commitment issues
One of Melissa Benoist's last posts on Instagram wished husband Chris Wood as she celebrated his birthday. The three-month-old post addresses Wood, saying "odds are you won’t see this" in the caption - thus piquing curiosity over why he wouldn't see this. Wood is also on Instagram, where he posts roughly once a month. So why wouldn't he see his 'Supergirl' wife's birthday wish? These are probably the questions -- one too many of them -- that have triggered rumors of Benoist and Wood's impending divorce.
Kicked off by an unnamed 'Internet forum', according to AceShowbiz, rumors of Benoist divorcing her second husband comes just months after the couple's son was born. But the internet refuses to believe because of all the husband goals Wood has given us as Benoist's partner of three years, after she divorced Blake Jenner.

'Supergirl' co-stars Melissa Benoist and Chris Wood tie the knot 6 months after engagement
Benoist and Wood met on the sets of the hit CW show 'Supergirl', where she plays the titular role, and he was her short-term romantic interest Mon-El. They confirmed their relationship in 2017 during a PDA-packed Mexico vacation and were engaged and married by 2019. In September 2020 arrived their firstborn - a son they named Huxley Robert Wood, and the couple never looked back as Wood continued being a doting husband.
However, a new report swirling around the internet allegedly claims the 32-year-old former 'Glee' star "has definitely discussed" the possibility of filing for divorce "but is hopeful that with the series ending that things can improve." Benoist, reportedly, is "committed to at least trying to make it work because of the offspring," but Wood isn't on the same page with the topic.
While AceShowbiz doesn't state the origin of the rumor, news of it is all over Twitter with fans left heartbroken. However, in their report of the rumor, the outlet cites social media users, who weighed in, saying: "That really sucks if true considering her ex-husband abused her, I was wondering why she hasn't been posting much on her Instagram. maybe this is why." Another user allegedly also slammed Wood, sharing: "Chris Wood isn't husband material. Before he got with Melissa he slept with many actresses from The CW."
But Twitter has an answer, of course, and Benoist's fans are angry that rumor mills won't leave her and Wood's marriage alone. "Stop asking melissa benoist if she’s divorcing chris wood thats none of your business respect her and her privacy thats why she isn’t active on social media because there are people who cant respect her and those people sucks," a user wrote, explaining Benoist's three-month-long Instagram hiatus from a different angle.

The Benoist fandom, at least on Twitter, seems to be fond of Wood, who has previously publicly addressed his wife opening up about her past experience with domestic violence. Benoist was previously married to her former 'Glee' co-star Blake Jenner, until their two-year-long marriage ended in divorce in 2017. Shortly after that, she began dating Wood and was slammed online heavily, as many accused her of cheating on Jenner with Wood due to the short gap between her divorce and her new relationship.
But when in 2019 Benoist opened up about the harrowing abuse she suffered from an 'ex', Wood rose in the eyes of Benoist's fans, after he shared the sweetest thanksgiving post expressing solidarity. Benoist has never clarified if the abusive ex was her ex-husband, but popular opinion has deduced so. While her fans are worried about their favorite star undergoing adversities, it looks like they will be more devastated should Benoist and Wood get divorced.
