Why is 'Bull' Season 5 Episode 5 not airing this week? Here's what to expect when legal drama returns

Here's what to expect next from 'Bull'.

Due to the Christmas holidays, 'Bull' is not going to air for a while, folks. You'll have to wait till January 4, 2021 to see what happens next in the legal drama. The synopsis seems ominous and reads, "When a damaging secret is revealed, Bull worries he can't convince a jury his religious leader client didn't kill his wife."

The earlier episode ended on a merry note as Bull (Michael Weatherly) got a surprise proposal from Izzy under the Christmas tree, which is something that no one saw happening. Throughout the episode, Bull was toying with the idea of proposing to her, but due to Benny Colon's (Freddy Rodriguez) advice, decided to hold back and just gift her a thoughtful Christmas present instead. However, she turned the tables around and presented him with a ring. *Sniffles*

Marissa (Geneva Carr) seemed to have had a brief chance at happiness, too after being through a loop. She and her estranged husband Greg (David Furr) found themselves in federal court as they were charged with money laundering and fraud connected to Greg's restaurant. Bull and Benny had to defend the divorcing couple together so that the prosecution couldn't use them against each other. They hunted for jurors, who could believe that Marissa was not aware of Greg's business dealings. After what seemed like all hope was lost, Marissa gave an emotional speech in court of how she trusted her husband more than anything else. While she seemingly 'hung him out to dry' as he said, he later surrendered and admitted that he was in the wrong.

In Episode 3, we saw that Marissa has a chance at true love again. In 'Prison Break', while pursuing her divorce with Greg, she potentially meets the new love of her life, through a twist of fate. She accidentally gets in touch with an acquaintance from school who she used to have a crush on. Marissa’s mother used to get him to drive her to school. He was older than her but she never told him how she felt and so she finds herself drowning in nostalgia. After a few glasses of wine, she ends up joining the school group online where he's a member, but the only problem was that he's a member of the jury that the TAC had assembled for a rather complex case. This poses an ethical conflict and Marissa had to tell Bull and Chunk because he was handling the case. Nevertheless, they win the case. At the end of the episode, her new love interest leaves a message for her. Is Marissa finally getting a happy ending?

Meanwhile, what's happening with Benny on the DA front? The last we checked, he had been offered to run as DA, which led fans to panic whether he was leaving the show altogether.

'Bull' airs on CBS, Mondays at 10 pm.
