The couple shared that they met in 1987 while Steve was performing a comedy show in Memphis. Marjorie said, "I was late and I thought he was gonna give me the business because he got real quiet. He was just staring at me…I thought I was gonna become part of the show,” she said. “He finally realized he’s gotta say something, he was like, ‘Oh, I’m sorry. I don’t know who this is, but I’m gonna marry her.’”
But Steve didn't pursue her immediately as he was still married to his second wife- Mary Lee Shackelford. The couple met again in 2005, and this time around both of them had already been through two divorces. They began dating and after dating for two years, they got married in 2007.
