Steve Harvey buys Tyler Perry's old Atlanta pad for $15M, here's a look at the Palace of Versailles-inspired home
Steve Harvey and his wife Marjorie have picked up their friend Tyler Perry's Palace of Versailles inspired mansion in Atlanta for a whopping $15 Million. Perry first sold the house to David Turner in 2016 for $17.5 Million. Turner purchased the house and turned it into a production studio for a web-based Christian TV network, Jesus Live TV. The mansion became one of the highest-priced homes in Atlanta in the history of its city and it retains the title even after the original selling price was cut back by $2 Million during the resell.
The house was built in the year 2007 and is spread across 17 acres of prime land that overlooks the Chattahoochee River. Situated in the Paces Ferry community of Buckeye, the palatial mansion was built by Perry with a design based on the Palace of Versailles. The sprawling 34,699 square foot house included seven bedrooms and fourteen baths. The house also came with a helipad and a two-story parking garage.
A fully equipped gym, a lit-up tennis court, spa, and an infinity-edge outdoor pool with a Versailles style painting on the bottom and fountains also are a part of the property. Other features include a theater and a hobby house. The caretaker's suite and guardhouse also are a part of the property that is secured with a presidential-level security system including two gated and secured residential entrances.
Formal and informal gardens big enough to entertain over a hundred guests with plenty of space still left over are also a part of the house. Perry also spent a lot of money on landscaping the house. He spent some $40 Million dollars to build the house and a good amount of money went into full-grown plants, trees, topiary, and shrubs. However, the most extravagant part of the house has to be the underground ballroom that comes with a catering kitchen.
Perry bought the house in 2007 for $9 Million and sunk many millions into renovating the property. The house was bought by Turner for $17.5 Million and the latter put the house on the market in 2018, two years after buying it, for $25 Million but ended up selling for $15 Million to Harvey.
