Review based on Episodes 1-3 issued by Netflix for the press

'Who Killed Sara' Season 3 starts with Sara Guzman's (Ximena Lamadrid) body exhumed only to find an empty coffin. This changes the plot by making Sara go from dead to presumed dead. What follows are some intriguing twists and the introduction of key players who have a role in Sara's reported death. The final installment pulls out all stops as the first three episodes that were issued to the press in advance, set the tone for what promises to be a compelling watch. 'Who Killed Sara' is far from over.

Sara's brother Alex (Manolo Cardona) hunts relentlessly for his sister with his love interest Elisa (Carolina Miranda) and uncovers a chilling conspiracy. Nicandro (Matías Novoa) just adds to the suspense by revealing that "it was us" behind Sara's death and not Marifer (Litzy), who by the way has survived the fire, but has been rather badly disfigured by the burns. Jean Reno's Reinaldo is a shady doctor who also masterminds the Medusa Project — one that includes Sara as a lab rat. Under the directive that the review has to contain as minimal spoilers as possible, what we can indeed promise is a thriller that gets darker by the minute, but equally entertaining.

Sara's quite simply the bait in this cat and mouse game, but by the end of episode 2, her actual role in the installment gets a lot more definitive. What makes the final season a must-watch is the breakneck pace at which it moves. The characters have all evolved considering the time jump, but the wounds are still fresh as all the parties involved have Sara in their sights. There's a lot to unpack by the end of the first episode, but the remaining two chapters turn the story on its head by providing a massive twist.

That's not to say the series is flawless. It has its share of absurdities and loopholes, but the improved acting, the tonality of the show, and the crisp writing make up for it. The previous seasons did have their share of the plot completely digressing from the big picture, but the latest season ensures it doesn't make the same mistake. 'Who Killed Sara's ending hopefully doesn't turn damp, especially after the rousing start it dishes out. We recommend reading the recaps of the previous seasons as the enormity of the characters does make it hard to place where they were previously and their present situations. Final verdict: This one's worth the wait and is binge-worthy.

'Who Killed Sara' is streaming on Netflix.
