Who is Tanner Smith? 'Love On The Spectrum' Season 2 star kicked off his career as restaurant server
CLEMSON, SOUTH CAROLINA: Tanner Smith, the latest participant on Season 2 of Netflix's 'Love On The Spectrum', has roots in Saint Matthews and is presently settled in Clemson, South Carolina.
Tanner completed his schooling at Glenforest School Columbia and went on to receive his graduation degree from Clemson University.
After his graduation, Tanner reflected on his college time and noted, "My favorite part of being at Clemson was all the people I got to meet and build relationships with and my roommates."
Much like his mother, Tanner is a fitness enthusiast and has participated in multiple running competitions, including Cross Country. His academic and extracurricular accomplishments include receiving the Orangeburg Mayor's Committee award for Student of the Year.
Tanner's mother took to Instagram to express her delight at his achievement. She wrote, "So proud of Tanner as he received the Orangeburg Mayor's Committee award for Student of the Year this morning." She added, "This year has been so full of growth & great opportunities, & we are so thankful to all the wonderful ppl in our community who have made it possible."
Tanner's work ethic is impressive as he started working at a young age, serving at Chick-fil-A Orangeburg in 2017, while simultaneously holding two on-campus positions at Fike Recreation Center and the Division of Undergraduate Studies.
Currently, Tanner works as a receptionist at Shepherd Hotel. He was recruited through the ClemsonLIFE University program for students with intellectual disabilities.
Tanner Smith spreads awareness about autism
Tanner Smith, a participant of 'Love On The Spectrum' Season 2, received a diagnosis of autism in April 2002 and has since been actively promoting advocacy and awareness for the condition
In 2019, Tanner visited Harbison West School to engage with students and educate them on autism. He shared his experience on social media by posting pictures with the students, stating "I had a great week! On Monday, I spoke to the students at Harbison West School about autism."
Tanner went further by inviting some of the children to a Christmas party that he hosted.
He shared on Instagram, "Today, I organized a Christmas party for Claire and Julia. This week has been amazing, and I have a surprise for tomorrow, which could be even better."
Tanner Smith teases his 'Love On The Spectrum' Season 2 appearance
Tanner Smith had high hopes of finding his forever partner during his stint on Season 2 of 'Love On The Spectrum'. He took to Instagram to express his excitement about appearing on the popular Netflix dating show.
On the social media platform, Tanner shared a trailer for the new season of the show and made a big announcement. He wrote, "I'm going to be on the next season of Love on the Spectrum, wahooo!"
Although Tanner was only briefly shown in the teaser, he was seen getting ready for a date with the help of his mother.
Another scene featured Tanner waiting with a bouquet for his date to arrive, but it seemed that his expectations may not have been met.
