CHARLESTON, WEST VIRGINIA: Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, Simon Cowell and Sofia Vergara returned to the judges' chairs in their quest for new talent. 'America's Got Talent' Season 18 will kick off with multiple new contestants gracing the stage with their unique talents.

The NBC competition will feature aerialists, singers, musicians, dancers and acrobats among others as the contestants attempt to impress the judges to make it to the Top 55. Among the hopefuls is Philip Bowen, who will showcase his violin skills on 'America's Got Talent' Season 18.

Who is Philip Bowen?

Phillip is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who hails from Charleston, West Virginia. He was inspired by his Appalachian roots and often plays fiddle. Besides playing the instrument, Philip is also a husband and beloved father. According to his profile, the singer-songwriter has performed in places such as the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, 3rd & Lindsley and NPR's Mountain Stage.

Philip has been playing the fiddle since he was four and dreamed of making a career out of his music. He tried to pursue a career in music but the Covid-19 pandemic put a stop to that. However, instead of giving up, he posting videos of him singing on social media. Now, he has become a social media sensation with a million followers on TikTok. His most viral song, 'Chop Suey', has garnered 1.8 million views on TikTok. Furthermore, his instrumental cover of 'Something In The Orange' on Spotify has got 940,000 streams. He is set to release a debut album, 'Old Kanawha', on August 18 in collaboration with Charles Wesley Godwin and Josiah and the Bonnevilles.



 

What will Philip Bowen bring to 'America's Got Talent' Season 18?

Philip will bring his violin skills to the stage of 'America's Got Talent' Season 18. In an interview, he revealed that he wanted to do "something maybe a little bit unexpected, so when you see this 100-year-old wooden fiddle and somebody coming up from West Virginia, you may have a certain expectation about what you’re about to experience." He said that he wanted to show the world something they hadn’t seen before.

'America's Got Talent' Season 18 premieres on May 30 at 8 pm ET on NBC
