'Heated Rivalry' star's slip-up has sparked fresh questions among the fans about the scale of Season 2, leading him to quit the platform.

'Heated Rivalry' Season 2 has fans wondering about its episode count after Dylan Walsh accidentally shared a detail about the new season. The actor suggested that production could involve 12 episodes, despite creator Jacob Tierney previously saying he prefers keeping the show to six episodes per season.

Walsh plays David Hollander, the father of Shane Hollander, one of the series' two central characters. In a Cameo video for a fan, Walsh said he was preparing to return to Canada to film "some more episodes" and added, "I think we're doing 12 this time." The clip spread online, and Walsh later stepped away from Cameo. A message on his profile said he was taking a break after a video went viral and "got me in trouble." He later explained that he had been speaking off the cuff and apologized, saying, “I don’t have any official information to announce, and I’m sorry for creating confusion for the production and the fans.”

Both messages have since disappeared from his profile. The episode count is unusual for 'Heated Rivalry,' as creator Jacob Tierney has previously said he prefers keeping the show to six episodes per season. He told the Los Angeles Times that he would rather keep the story tight than add episodes without enough material to support them.

Walsh's comment has led fans to several theories. One possibility is that the production is filming Season 2 and Season 3 together. Another is that the 12 episodes could form two parts of the same season. Neither possibility has received official confirmation. Walsh's wording also leaves room for another explanation, since he did not clearly say that all 12 episodes belong to Season 2.

Season 2 will be primarily adapted from Rachel Reid's novel 'The Long Game,' which includes a plot point involving a video spreading through an app similar to Cameo. Walsh's real-life video now echoes that storyline.

The series follows professional hockey players Shane Hollander, played by Hudson Williams, and Ilya Rozanov, played by Connor Storrie. The two men compete on the ice while secretly maintaining a romantic relationship.

Walsh's David learns about their relationship after walking in on Shane and Ilya kissing during the Season 1 finale. Walsh is expected to return as David as the story moves into its next stage. 'Heated Rivalry' Season 2 has started filming and is expected to premiere in spring 2027. For now, the official episode count remains unclear following Walsh's comments about the production schedule.
