'American Horror Story' Season 13 reveals release date as fan-favorites return
'American Horror Story' Season 13 is bringing several of the anthology's most familiar characters back for a massive crossover. FX has now confirmed the premiere date of the new season in the latest trailer, along with a cast that spans multiple chapters of the franchise. Jessica Lange reprises Constance Langdon from 'Murder House,' marking her first appearance in the series since 'Apocalypse' in 2018. Evan Peters returns as Kai Anderson from 'Cult' and as Rubber Man from 'Murder House.'
Sarah Paulson is back as Cordelia Goode from 'Coven.' Angela Bassett returns as Marie Laveau, and Emma Roberts reprises her role as Madison Montgomery, both from 'Coven.' John Carroll Lynch returns as the terrifying Twisty the Clown from 'Freak Show.' The trailer reveals that the crossover goes much deeper, with even more familiar characters appearing. Mena Suvari appears as Elizabeth Short, Gabourey Sidibe returns as Queenie, and Jamie Brewer is back as Nan.
Ryan Murphy previously described the season as an "Avengers-level" mash-up of the 'AHS' universe. He said the story brings together characters from the seasons fans have loved most, including 'Murder House,' 'Asylum,' 'Coven,' 'Freak Show,' and 'Cult.' Murphy also revealed that some performers will play multiple characters. Peters even plays two different characters in the same scene at one point, creating a rare setup for the long-running anthology.
The main cast includes Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd, Gabourey Sidibe, Leslie Grossman, Joey Pollari, and Jessica Lange. The larger ensemble includes Avantika, Jamie Brewer, Elle Chapman, Berto Colon, Alex Consani, Frances Conroy, Mat Fraser, Seth Gabel, Orlando Jones, Paul Anthony Kelly, John Carroll Lynch, Tig Notaro, Madelaine Petsch, Fedor Steer, Mena Suvari, Zach Villa, and John Waters.
The new season will feature 13 half-hour episodes. FX and Hulu will premiere 'AHS: 13' on Thursday, September 24 at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT. The premiere night will feature three episodes. The second week will bring three more episodes. Two episodes will then arrive each Thursday until the 13th, and the final episode will arrive on October 29.
The teaser confirms that characters from several major 'AHS' seasons will converge in the new story, while the full reason behind the crossover remains under wraps.
