LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Lifetime isn't shy of adapting true stories into critically acclaimed movies. Joining this revered list is 'Giving Hope: The Ni'Cola Mitchell Story'. 

According to Lifetime, the story revolves around Ni'Cola Mitchell, a renowned author, publisher, and speaker, who discovers her true calling while at a book signing event. Having overcome significant hurdles in her own life, including a challenging childhood and a cancer diagnosis, Ni'Cola realizes that she wants to help underprivileged young girls. Putting her own writing career on hold, she launches 'Girls Who Brunch', a series of events designed to empower and uplift young women. Tatyana Ali plays Mitchell in the movie.

Who is Ni'Cola Mitchell?

According to Ni'Cola Mitchell's LinkedIn profile, Ni'cola Mitchell is a well-known figure in the publishing industry, having made the Forbes list as a Change Maker in 2019 and Black Enterprise's list of S-Follow Worthy Bloggers to Watch in 2015. As the founder of the Girls Who Brunch Tour, she was named a L'Oreal Paris 2019 Women of Worth recipient and recently received the 2021 Visa She's Next Black Women-Owned Business Grant. Mitchell is also the owner of Strategic Connections Plus, a start-up business consulting firm that has helped over 1,000 authors and independent publishers successfully publish their books.

Having overcome her own personal challenges, including a difficult childhood and a cancer diagnosis, Ni'cola was inspired to help disadvantaged girls. She launched Girls Who Brunch, a non-profit organization that focuses on empowering girls from low-income communities, as well as girls in foster care, sex trade victims, and teen mothers. Through mentorship, workshops, STEM training, and panel facilitations, Girls Who Brunch teaches these girls different ways of thinking that ultimately enable them to succeed and flourish.

Through her dedication and hard work, Ni'cola has proven that with the right resources and opportunities, at-risk youth can successfully transition into adulthood and achieve their dreams. She has also published numerous titles through her independent publishing company, NCM Publishing, which have been featured on various best-selling lists across the country.
