Who is Karen Weitzul? Tom Girardi pays $200K spousal support from sale of mansion shared with ex Erika Jayne
PASADENA, CALIFORNIA: 'The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' actress Erika Jayne's ex-spouse Tom Girardi's first wife negotiated a $200,000 settlement as part of the infamous lawyer's bankruptcy over unpaid spousal support. According to court records, the trustee presiding over Girardi's involuntary Chapter 7 bankruptcy notified the court that Girardi's ex-wife, Karen Weitzul, had signed an agreement.
Weitzul, Girardi's first wife, was reportedly due $245,000 in alimony. Weitzul had filed documents against him as the Pasadena home he once shared with estranged wife Jayne neared foreclosure as the recently-disbarred attorney, who was forced into bankruptcy in December 2020, along with his now-defunct firm, Girardi Keese, faces liens worth over $6 million. "In a surprise development, Karen Girardi, Tom Girardi’s first wife, files papers for the relief brought by the second lender. She discloses that she is owed $10k per month and her bill is now $245k. This brings just the secured liens to $6,070,000. Debt service is $40k per month!" attorney Ronald Richards tweeted on June 10.

Who is Karen Weitzul?
Girardi married his first wife, Weitzul, in August 1964. In October 1983, she filed for divorce. She was one of 10 finalists in the Loyola Homecoming Queen contest on November 17, 1959. Girardi and Weitzul most likely met and fell in love at Loyola. In 1957, Tom Girardi graduated from Loyola High School in Los Angeles. In 1961, he obtained his undergraduate degree from Loyola Marymount University, and in 1964, he received his JD from Loyola Law School. Weitzul reportedly resides in Pasadena at the moment.
She filed court filings against Girardi in August 2020, charging him with contempt for neglecting to pay her the support she was entitled to as part of their 1989 divorce settlement. As reported by RadarOnline, Girardi was ordered to pay Weitzul $10,000 each month following their divorce, but requested that the sum be lowered to $5,000 in February 2020. He informed Weitzul at the time that he was weary of "paying and felt it was long enough." Then, when her attorney requested that he pay, Girardi assured her that he would after getting "additional funds."
Although Girardi ultimately paid $40,000 for February and March 2020, he still owed Weitzul $25,000, and she claimed he owed her a total of $45,000 in October 2020. By this point, he was in serious water with a lot of his former clients and creditors, many of whom accused him of owing them thousands, if not millions of dollars, and Girardi was eventually driven into bankruptcy in late 2020.
Weitzul claimed in June of this year that she was entitled to $245,000 in unpaid alimony. Just a few weeks later, it was revealed that she had filed a lien on the home Girardi and Jayne had previously shared. Weitzul agreed to relinquish any future claims for assistance from Girardi as part of her $200,000 settlement.
