Just the way Chris Harrison described the show in its premiere, there has been no dearth of drama on Matt James’s ‘The Bachelor’. We have suitresses who have ruffled some feathers and made their presence known. While eight of them got sent home on Day 1, the other 24 excitedly proceeded, doing everything they could to catch the attention of the eligible bachelor. And, for those of you who thought “Queen” Victoria was a tad bit much to deal with, perhaps the other suitress and pageant queen Jessenia Cruz from Texas, who wears her heart on her sleeve, could be the one you would root for.

Who is Jessenia Cruz?

ABC describes the 27-year-old Jessenia as the “total package of brains, beauty and an infectious personality.” She is a former pageant queen from Texas, who was titled Miss El Paso in 2016.  Her bio reads, “ After recently ending her most recent relationship, Jessenia is hoping to find her true counterpart in Matt. Jessenia loves a man who takes initiative, is adventurous, and who will keep life exciting and unpredictable. Her soul mate also must love dogs because Jessenia currently has three of them!”

“One thing Jessenia cannot stand is a man who will not get off their phone, especially if it's during date night. Jessenia wants someone with whom she can travel the world, but who will also indulge in a fabulous staycation. She is a true romantic and says she daydreams about what it will be like when she finally meets the man of her dreams,” it further states.

She’s deeply religious

Besides her love for escape rooms and desire to live in France for “at least a year”, Jessenia has been vocal about her faith and religious beliefs. On December 26, 2016, she shared a picture flaunting the sash with the title from the Texas beauty pageant and wrote, “Merry Christmas! One of the things I love about El Paso is that we are a deeply religious community, we aren't afraid to show our love for the Lord, especially on this day.✝️ Today also marks 6 months since I was crowned Miss El Paso Texas USA. I am so grateful to have been blessed with the opportunity to represent the city that stole my heart. Thank you El Paso, and thank you to all of the people who played a role in my success. Your love & support mean the world to me.❤️"

In the premiere episode, Matt decided to hold a prayer session with all the ladies on the season's first group date. Maybe, we couldn’t get a good look at Jessenia’s expression, but we could definitely look forward to witnessing more as the season progresses.

‘The Bachelor’ airs on Mondays at 8 pm ET on ABC.
