UNIVERSAL CITY, CALIFORNIA: 'The Voice' Season 24 singer Gillian Smith failed to get any chair turn during the blind audition round. Despite getting rejected from NBC's singing competition show, it seems Gillian has not lost hope.
The 20-year-old country singer is flourishing in her singing career. And she recently shared the stage with 'The Voice's ex-coach Blake Shelton.
In June 2023, Gillian uploaded a lineup of the Barefoot Country Music Fest. The poster had Blake's face on it with various singer's names. And to everyone's astonishment, one of the names was Gillian.
She shared the picture of the poster on her Instagram, saying, "Catch me on the Miller Light Main Stage today at @barefootcountrymusicfest !! Super excited to be playing on a day with such amazing talent!"
The country music singer is a Cumberland Valley High School graduate and local Fallfest opener. She has already released her debut single titled 'Guess You Couldn't'.
Gillian has also bagged the Best Female Country Artist award at the 2023 Central Pennsylvania Music Hall of Fame ceremony. The singer revealed in her audition round that she does skincare as a day job.
Gillian Smith's rendition of 'Heart Like a Truck' gets no chair turn
Gillian performed'Heart Like a Truck' by Lainey Wilson. Sadly, she did not get any chair turn during the audition round. She also sounded nervous during her audition round.
Her voice trampled and the pitches were off. Niall Horan believed the song was too big for her. On the other hand, Gwen Stefani suggested Gillian gain control over the vibrato in her lower register.
Believing Gillian could do much better, the judges unanimously decided to not turn their chairs.
Gillian Smith is inspired by 'The Voice' judge Reba McEntire
Reba McEntire is a legendary singer when it comes to country gospel. And Gillian has been inspired by the true legend.
Lancaster Online reported Reba to be Gillian's one of the music influences. Gillian claimed a teacher suggested she try country music. And when she did, she fell in love with it.
She is now seen performing country music at various events and places.
'The Voice' coach Reba McEntire tells Gillian Smith to come back next season
It seemed Gillian was turned down by her musical idol and was left heartbroken. But, Reba left Gillian with some good criticism.
Reba enjoyed Gillian's performance but believed her song had some pitch problems. Therefore, she suggested he should come back the next season.
Season 24 of 'The Voice' will show back-to-back episodes on Mondays and Tuesdays beginning at 8 pm ET through the blind auditions and battle rounds.
