LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'House of the Dragon' Season 2 Episode 2 premiered on HBO on Sunday, June 23.

The episode was a blend of compelling storytelling and intense action sequences, leaving fans impressed with the captivating continuation of the gripping first episode.

'House of the Dragon' is based on George RR Martin's 'Fire and Blood', and fans familiar with the book noticed a character missing from the series in the first season.

The person in question is Daeron Targaryen, who finally got a mention in Season 2 Episode 2 when Ser Otto Hightower (Rhys Ifans) referenced his name while talking to Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke).

Fans who had been curious about Daeron Targaryen's presence were finally relieved to hear his name mentioned in the series.

Here is everything about Daeron Targaryen and what the fans think about his name being mentioned.

Daeron Targaryen is the fourth child of Viserys Targaryen (Paddy Considine) and Alicent Hightower. His whereabouts weren't mentioned in Season 1 of 'House of the Dragon' as the show took a ten-year leap forward in that season.

In Season 2, Daeron Targaryen is mentioned by Otto as someone who would take instructions more kindly than Aegon Targaryen (Tom Glynn-Carney), who had just dismissed him as the hand of the King. This offers hints that Daeron will be a part of the Green faction in the show.

Daeron was sent to Oldtown where he served as a cupbearer and squire to Lord Hightower. He is bonded with the dragon Tessarion.

Daeron, who has stayed away from the politics of King's Landing, is described as a gentle and good-looking young man according to the accounts in the book.

He becomes an integral part of the Dance of the Dragons and earns the moniker 'Daeron the Daring' after saving his cousins in the Battle of the Honeywine.

After the fall of King's Landing to Rhaenyra Targaryen, Daeron briefly becomes the heir to the throne after Aegon. However, he is killed in battle during the Second Battle of Tumbleton.

Fans are overjoyed at Daeron's mention in 'House of the Dragon' Season 2 Episode 2

On Reddit, one fan wrote, "🚨🚨🚨 DAERON HAS BEEN MENTIONED. THIS IS NOT A DRILL. DAERON HAS BEEN MENTIONED ON SCREEN. 🚨🚨🚨". Another Reddit user added, "ACTIVATE PROJECT DAERON".

Another Reddit user said, "Daeron exists!". One Reddit user wrote, "I can imagine non book readers being incredibly confused at that hahahahahaha. Surely there was a better way to do that. Think Aegon & Aemond would be shocked to hear they have a younger brother too at this point lol".

It did confuse a few non-book reader fans. A Reddit user wrote "So who was that? Alicent has a fourth kid?"  Another Reddit user said, "I thought he was The Forgotten Prince."
