Every ‘Stranger Things’ filming location you can visit in real life: From Starcourt mall to Hawkins station

The 'Stranger Things' series finale is set to drop on New Year's Eve and will be two hours and eight minutes in duration

As the long-running saga of 'Stranger Things' gears up towards its conclusion, viewers from all across the globe are tuning in to catch a glimpse of the ultimate battle between the group of friends and the sinister forces from the Upside Down. Created by Matt and Ross Duffer, 'Stranger Things', as the OG flagship show, didn't simply establish Netflix as one of the forces to reckon with in the streaming market. It went on to inspire a wholesome cultural zeitgeist that was informed and inspired by 1980s nostalgia, the scent of suburbia, and the spirit of middle America. A tour of the filming locations featured on the Netflix show's five seasons will attest to his fact. 

The fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana, was constructed from several real-life locations, with the chief being Jackson, Atlanta. The residential building in which Dustin, Lucas, and the others are shown living on the show's first season was filmed across several neighbourhoods in Jackson and East Point in Atlanta, as per CNTraveler. The interior scenes, however, were shot at the Screen Gems soundstage in Atlanta. The erstwhile Patrick Henry High School on South Lee Street became the Hawkins Middle and High School. Hopper's police station scenes were filmed at the Douglasville City Hall. The sprawling woods, which are heavily featured on the debut season, stretch across the Georgia International Horse Park in Conyers. 

The Hawkins National Laboratory was the site of much of the second season's action and it was filmed at the Briarcliff Campus of Emory University. Fans of the show will remember Dacre Montgomery's Billy showing off his physique while working as a lifeguard at the Hawkins Community pool, which was filmed at the South Bend Pool, located on Lakewood Avenue, Atlanta. The huge Starcourt Mall, presented as a time capsule of the '80s, was created at the Gwinnett Place Mall located outside the vicinity of Duluth, northeast of Atlanta. 

The fourth season of the show saw the beloved characters leaving the sleepy town of Hawkins behind to embark on a globe-trotting mission. The prison where Hopper was held captive is the Lukiskes Prison in real-life Vilnius, Lithuania. When Joyce and the rest of the members of her family moved out of Hawkins, their new residence scenes were shot in Albuquerque, New Mexico. By far, the ongoing fifth and final season brought to the fore the most eclectic choice of shooting locations, according to Esquire. 

The Claremont House in Rome, Georgia, built in the Victorian fashion, became the Creel House on the Netflix show. On the other hand, the radio station WSQK 94.5FM, or better known as The Squawk, was built from scratch by the crew at Chattahoochee Hills in Southwest Atlanta. Now, as grown-up teenagers, Dustin was shown attending college, which was filmed at the Oglethorpe University campus in Brookhaven, Georgia. All episodes of 'Stranger Things' are exclusively available on Netflix.
