CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA: Ruan Irving made his television debut with 'Below Deck Mediterranean' Season 8 but he was fired from the Bravo show after Episode 1 following his fake document scandal. After the drama, Ruan appeared to living his best life and traveling to multiple locations.

Ruan has continued working in the yachting industry. The Bravo show alum recently took a deep dive into the sea of Antibes, France. He has also visited St Tropez and shared a photo of himself lying in the boat. Captain Sandy Yawn hired Ruan as the leading role of the exterior deck team.

However, during the premiere episode, an inspector came on board the Mustique and claimed that Ruan's papers were copies. The inspector needed his original papers and detained the boat until Ruan showed his original documents. However, it was later revealed that Ruan's documents were actually fake. He explained during the episode that he received his certificate on a boat in Monaco.

Captain Sandy notably pointed out that there wasn't any school in Monaco for his course. However, Ruan was offered to return to the yacht once he got all his papers sorted out, but Captain Sandy was not ready to work with him. Ruan ultimately decided not to return to Mustique.

'Below Deck Mediterranean' alum Ruan Irving defends forging documents

'Below Deck Mediterranean' Season 8 alum Ruan Irving has defended forging his documents on his social media. He took to his Instagram and wrote, "Lessons were learnt & mistakes corrected!" In a separate Instagram post, Ruan wrote, "The certificate issue all my original hard copies were in South Africa."

The Bravo show alum explained, "I never travel with them that’s why I get certified copies made! Now the show had copies of certified copies because I sent them copies as requested (nobody ever asked for the originals till MCA came on board) after the show I flew to Cape Town and I got my certificates and sent the show a video with all the originals."

Ruan also addressed the Yacht-master certificate drama and claimed that he had asked a person at the school to send the paperwork for 'Below Deck'. He received what he now knew was a fake certificate. Ruan concluded his explanation and noted, "It’s been a year since the show and all my certificates have been updated and the originals are always on me. Lesson learned."

Iain Maclean replaces Ruan Irving in 'Below Deck Mediterranean' Season 9

Iain Maclean would replace Ruan Irving in 'Below Deck Mediterranean' Season 9. He would take on the leading role of the exterior deck team as bosun. He is from Cape Town, South Africa and has an experience of five years in the yachting industry. The trailer of the upcoming installment has teased trouble overboard due to Iain's 'micromanaging'.

The upcoming season would feature eccentric guests, an abundance of late-night demands that require intervention, and a never-before-seen mechanical issue that orders all hands on deck. The Bravo show crew would also have to deal with a complicated interior department and a medical emergency.
