When will 'Vikings' Season 6 episodes air? Here's how you can stream them before History channel premiere
'Vikings', the popular History Channel show is coming to an end in 2021 with its final 10 episodes set to air on the network in Spring 2021. However, fans of the show now have a chance to watch 'Vikings' finale episodes before the premiere of the network. The episodes will premiere on Amazon Prime in the US, UK, Germany, Austria, and Ireland earlier. This roll-out will happen prior to airing on its linear home on History Channel.
Michael Hirst, the creator of 'Vikings' said, "Our monumental 'Vikings' saga is coming to its conclusion, but not before you’ve had to chance to watch some of my all-time favorite episodes," and added, "Prime Video will uniquely expose the series finale to a streaming audience first. Prepare to be astonished, and for many surprises along the way. And if you have tears to shed, then also be prepared to shed them." The date of release on History Channel has, however, not been finalized and so far, it has been speculated that it may come out in Spring 2021. The official plot of 'Vikings' Season 6 Part 2 is: "Obviously it has to be in the very last scene of the very last episode, it has to be the last thing. I want it to be surprising, I don’t want it to be this massive build-up and people are going to expect it to happen, I just want to fool people.”
Brad Beale, vice president of worldwide content licensing for Prime Video also spoke about the release of the show online and was quoted by Variety as saying, "Prime Video has already delighted Prime members with all five and a half seasons of ‘Vikings’. On December 30, Prime members in the US, UK, Germany, Austria, and Ireland will be the first to learn the fates of the beloved characters as the epic drama concludes in the final ten episodes."
The first ten episodes of Season 6 had aired earlier in 2020 on the History channel. The mid-season finale saw an epic battle take place between the Rus and Vikings where brothers fought each other. Bjorn Ironside (Alexander Ludwig) fought for his homeland alongside King Harald (Peter Franzen) and in the opposition was Ivar the Boneless (Alex Høgh Andersen), who now fought with the Rus forces in an attempt to gain control of Norway. While 'Vikings' is coming to an end on History Channel, creators Michael Hirst, with Jeb Stuart will continue to explore the world of Norse warriors. They are creating a series titled 'Vikings: Valhalla' for Netflix which is set 100 years after the conclusion of the original show.
