She leaves him with some cryptic advice: follow the magician's elephant. Peter sets out in quest of the magician, full of hope and dreams of eventually reconciling with his sister. He does find him, and he accidently summons the elephant, but the enigmatic beast is quickly captured by the royal court. Peter pursues the elephant to the King's halls, where he begs him in front of a large crowd to give him the animal that will aid him in finding his sister.

The animated feature film is being developed by Netflix, which also bought the film rights to the book and script. Noah Jupe, Benedict Wong, Pixie Davies, Sian Clifford, Brian Tyree Henry, Mandy Patinkin, Miranda Richardson, Cree Summer, and Lorraine Toussaint are among the voice over cast in the picture.
