'The Four Seasons' 2 finally gets release date as first-look images reveal major update on Anne and Ginny
Mark your calendars because Netflix has set the release date for Season 2 of 'The Four Seasons.' The show's second installment, featuring eight episodes, will drop on May 28. The comedy drama series debuted on May 1, 2025, and, following its positive reception, was renewed for a second season in the same month. After much anticipation, Netflix has released the first-look images from the upcoming season. 'The Four Seasons' follows lifelong friends over the course of a year as they spend vacations together during the winter, spring, summer, and fall. Tina Fey, Lang Fisher, and Tracey Wigfield have adapted the series for Netflix from Alan Alda's 1981 film of the same name.
As per the show's official logline, "The decades-long friendship between three married couples is tested when one divorces, complicating their tradition of quarterly weekend getaways." After Nick (Steve Carell) and Anne's (Kerri Kenney-Silver) 25-year-long marriage ends in divorce, it changes the dynamics of the whole group, which also comprises Jack (Will Forte) and Kate (Tina Fey), and Danny (Colman Domingo) and his husband Claude (Marco Calvani). Nick then starts dating his dental hygienist, Ginny, forcing his friends to come to terms with their new relationship. At the end of Season 1, Nick dies in a car crash while vacationing with Ginny’s friends. During his funeral, his ex-wife, Anne, learns that Ginny is pregnant with Nick's child, adding more complexity and drama to the friends' lives.
The newly released images feature the friends in a variety of settings, including the beach, mountains, a cozy cabin, and also enjoying a glass or two of wine. Kate is seen wearing a Catskills sweatshirt, hinting at one of the locales. In another image, Anne and Ginny are seen smiling at each other as the latter cradles her baby bump, confirming that she becomes a part of the group following Nick's tragic death. This also confirms that the two women have moved past their differences and chosen to support each other in this new chapter of life. The first two episodes of Season 1 of 'The Four Seasons' saw the group spending time at Nick and Anne’s lake house, while the next two episodes took them to an eco resort. The friends then visited their alma mater for parents’ weekend in Episodes 5 and 6 and ended the season by hitting the ski slopes in Episodes 7 and 8.
As per The Hollywood Reporter, Fey, who is also a writer on the show, spoke about Season 2 during an Emmy FYC event in May 2025. She said that the first season drew inspiration from the plot of the film as well as the writers' personal experiences. Moreover, the 55-year-old star added that they are “kind of starting from scratch” for the show's second chapter. Season 2 of 'The Four Seasons' is executive-produced by Fey, Fisher, Wigfield, David Miner, Jeff Richmond, and Eric Gurian.
