America Ferrera’s departure from ‘Superstore’ has undeniably left a void in the megastore Cloud 9. However, the rest of the cast continued to entertain us with their comical chops through the sixth even after the exit of the main character. However, with just eleven episodes under its belt, Season 6 of ‘Superstore’ has been interrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic, which has impacted the future of the NBC comedy show on television.

Justin Spitzer, Gabe Miller and Jonathan Green said, “We’re grateful to Universal Television and NBC for letting us make 113 episodes of a show we’re so proud of, and for giving us the chance to work with such an incredibly talented group of actors, writers and crew.”

“We’re thankful most of all to the viewers who’ve stuck with us for the past six years (or discovered us somewhere along the way). We’ll do our best to go out strong and give you the satisfying ending you deserve,” they further added.

When will ‘Superstore’ Season 6 Season 5 return?

The show is currently on a break and will be returning from its winter hiatus on Thursday, January 14. ‘Superstore’ Season 6 is expected to end in the spring.

America Ferrera’s exit from the show in Season 6 episode 2 had impacted the ratings of the episodes that followed. According to Variety, the series has “been struggling a little in the ratings of late, averaging only a 0.8 among adults 18-49 and 3.3 million total viewers after seven days of delayed viewing”.

The news regarding Ferrera’s departure was announced by NBC after the series was renewed for the sixth season. It was told that the actress was leaving the show to work on new projects and to spend time with her family. However, she appeared in the first two episodes of Season 6 to make sure her character got proper closure. Her storyline was carried up to the series 100th episode to show Amy and Jonah’s breakup, which marked her exit.
