Spider-Man fans worldwide are eagerly awaiting the impending release of the next movie in the franchise, 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day'. Ahead of the film's release, Sony is doing its best to prevent creative snippets or details from being leaked by overenthusiastic admirers. So far, this policy of secrecy has been fairly successful, as an official teaser trailer isn't on the horizon. However, in a surprising turn of events, the plot synopsis of 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' is now circulating online.

The synopsis reads, "Four years have gone by since we last caught up with our friendly neighborhood hero. Peter Parker is no more, but Spider-Man is at the top of his game, keeping New York City safe. Things are going well for our anonymous hero until an unusual trail of crimes pulls him into a web of mystery larger than he’s ever faced before. In order to take on what’s ahead, Spider-Man not only needs to be at the top of his physical and mental game, but he must also be prepared to face the repercussions of his past!"

The official synopsis was present in the 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day – The Art Of The Movie', an upcoming book by Jess Harrold and various Marvel artists featuring all the official concept artwork for the webslinging superhero's upcoming adventure. The book is being published by Penguin Random House and will hit the bookshelves on August 4. Running up to 240 pages, it is now available for pre-order on the publication's official website.

If one were to decipher this synopsis, it would be readily apparent that Peter Parker has been largely absent from the canonical narrative ever since the conclusion of the previous movie, 'Spider-Man: No Way Home'. What the webslinger has been up to in this while is of great consequence. It was previously speculated that the upcoming movie could feature an opening montage of Spider-Man fighting various street-level thugs and upgrading his suit each time. Moreover, since the synopsis indicates that Spider-Man's past will return to haunt him in 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day', one might even speculate that the superhero's unknown origins in the MCU will be brought to the surface of the film franchise for the first time. It was previously confirmed that Marvin Jones III will be seen as Tombstone in the Sony movie, having several criminals under his thumb, and shaping up to be the webslinger's formidable foe. Furthermore, Hulk is also officially confirmed to appear in the film. 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' arrives in theatres on July 31.
