Andrew Scott, Brendan Fraser face off before D-Day in intense WWII thriller ‘Pressure’ — watch trailer here
The upcoming World War II drama, 'Pressure', recreates a critical point in world history - the 72 hours leading up to the Normandy landings on June 6, 1944. The nail-biting thriller centers on the countdown to D-Day (the Allied invasion of Normandy), whose success depended on perfect weather conditions. Andrew Scott stars as the Royal Air Force meteorologist James Stagg, who is called upon to deliver the weather forecast ahead of the most consequential chapter in World War II. On the other hand, Brendan Fraser brings the gravitas of General and future American President Dwight D. Eisenhower to life as he oversees the entire operation.
The stakes couldn't be higher as Eisenhower declares in the trailer, "This is the largest seaborne invasion in history." However, the prediction of two aggressive storms on the proposed D-Day throws a wrench into his plans. As Eisenhower and Stagg clash over when to launch the attack, the Army General declares that the final decision will be his alone as he is fully aware that the fate of the free world hangs in the balance. 'Pressure' captures the growing tension between the many teams proposing wildly different weather forecasts. Stagg stands his ground amidst pushback and cautions that, “The storms that I am talking about are real, and the wrath of nature is real.”
The title promises a gripping watch with a high-stakes climax as the two men face an impossible task - to determine the precise time and date to invade on land, sea, and sky so that they can begin the liberation of Western Europe from Nazi control. Time is of the essence as delaying the operation could result in the Allies losing the war altogether. Anthony Maras has directed the film and co-written it alongside David Haig, who has adapted the script from his own 2014 stage play. The film's talented star cast also includes Kerry Condon, Chris Messina, and Damian Lewis, who will share the screen with Scott and Fraser.
Following a long absence from Hollywood, Fraser's career was revived in 2022 when he starred in 'The Whale.' He has since acted in Martin Scorsese's anti-Western 'Killers of the Flower Moon,' 'Brothers,' and 'Rental Family.' The 57-year-old will also reprise his role as Rick O’Connell in the latest installment of the 'Mummy' franchise. Fans are now eager to see him step into the shoes of Dwight D. Eisenhower in the upcoming World War II thriller when it releases across theaters in the US on May 29.
