Idris Elba's negotiation skills are put to the test, this time on a train. Apple TV's new trailer for 'Hijack' Season 2 sees the 'Hobbs and Shaw' actor reprise his role as Sam Nelson as he battles terror aboard a train. The streamer dropped a new look at the stylish and tense series releasing in January 2026.

In the trailer, Elba's Nelson can be seen negotiating with an unknown entity as he tries to get a Berlin train to safety. Returning stars include Max Beesley, Archie Panjabi, Christine Adams. Toby Jones joins the cast, while Christian Näthe, Clare-Hope Ashitey, Lisa Vicari, Karima McAdams, and Christiane Paul round up the rest of the cast.

Per Apple TV, the official logline reads, "On this train, everyone's a suspect. Hijack Season 2 premieres January 14 on Apple TV. In the thrilling second season of “Hijack,” a Berlin underground train and its commuters are taken hostage, while authorities scramble to save hundreds of lives. Sam Nelson (Idris Elba) is at the heart of the crisis on board, where one wrong decision could spell disaster." Season two is executive produced by Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, and Tom Nash, Kay, and Field Smith, who also serves as lead director for the series.

Earlier, Elba had expressed his excitement to return in season 2 if it was greenlit. "I love Apple, and we love each other, and I think we’re gonna work together again, but we’re just not currently in a setup as official,” Elba says. “It’s nice having a production deal, but there are restrictions. And I feel like my career as an actor has been so random and different — why change now?"

He also added, "Well, I’m gonna ask you the question. What would be the acceptable scenario that he comes back? Because we’ve thought about this and obviously Apple has gone, “Well, we really love the show.” And I think, you know, Rotten Tomatoes is at 92% at the moment, which is a good sign, but it’s kind of like — he’s not a cop — what would be the acceptable Sam Nelson return? And if I’m honest, I’m not sure. I’d like that, but I just don’t want to put him on another hijack. I’m open to that character coming back. I think if people were compelled to like the character, then I’m in."

Now that season 2 is on, there is an "acceptable scenario" and safe to say, we can't wait.
