Paramount drops major release update on James Cameron x Billie Eilish's concert film
James Cameron-directed Billie Eilish's concert film 'Hit Me Hard and Soft' that the latter announced back in July is slated for a March 20, 2026, release. Paramount will be the platform for the movie. Earlier reports suggested that the movie, featuring Matt Stone, Trey Parker, and Kendrick Lamar, which was originally slated to release during the window, was later moved to an unspecified release date so that the filming could be completed.
Eilish, a two-time Oscar winner, took to social media to make the announcement. She also added that the final stop of the 'Hit Me Hard and Soft tour' was in San Francisco, CA. Cameron followed suit by taking to social media to announce the release.
"HIT ME HARD AND SOFT: THE TOUR (LIVE IN 3D) coming to theatres on march 20th 2026 !!!! đ„łđ„łđ„ł this has been one of my favorite tours everrrrrr and being able to capture it and co-direct this film with @jamescameronofficial has truly been a dream come true. canât wait for you all to see it," she wrote.
Per reports, Eilish told the crowd at her Manchester concert stop for the 'Hit Me Hard and Soft' tour in July that Cameron had cameras in the arena, and that a new 3D concert film was in the making. The 'No Time to Die' singer has previously seen some of her concert films hit the big screen. Her O2 in 2023 saw a limited release, but grossed just $1.29M at the domestic box office.
While waiting for the concert movies, fans are eagerly awaiting the release of his third 'Avatar' movie, 'Fire and Ash', releasing on December 19. "Yeah, weâve got some really clever action set-pieces,â he promised Empire in an interview. "You can get your blood up in this movie. He also weighed in on the moolah the movie would likely rake in. Per Variety, "Weâll make some money. But the question is, what kind of a profit margin, if any, is there, and how much of an inducement is that to continue in this universe?" The official synopsis reads, "With 'Avatar: Fire and Ash,' James Cameron takes audiences back to Pandora in an immersive new adventure with Marine turned Na'vi leader Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), Na'vi warrior Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña), and the Sully family."
