The upcoming series will be based on the life of Paolo Macchiarini, a disgraced Italian surgeon accused of assault for placing artificial windpipes in patients who later died.
The UK production company, Nupotia has helmed the three-part documentary series. Ben Steele has donned the director's hat for the series.

The documentary will highlight the work of Macchiarini who wanted to revolutionize regenerative medicine in 2011 by implanting plastic windpipes in patients who were desperate for a cure.
As per a report by 'Deadline', Macchiarini's research was full of lies and three of the patients whom he treated died. The fourth patient got the artificial windpipe removed later.
In July 2023, a Swedish court gave the surgeon a suspended sentence for causing bodily harm during an experimental stem-cell windpipe transplant.
At that point in time, two charges of assault pressed against him were cleared. He has denied the charges.
According to the Associated Press, the Svea Court of Appeal came to a decision that two of the three patients treated didn't get any sort of emergency intervention. When we talk about the procedure on the third patient, it was not justified.
The court is reported to have said, "Macchiarini realized the risk of the interventions would cause the patients bodily harm and suffering and that he, even though he has had a hope that the method would work, has been indifferent to the risks."
In the series, the audience will witness how Macchiarini used to spin some wild stories around. He even manipulated a reporter to become his fiancee. She exposed him and fought for justice.
