‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ Season 2 finally gets release window as filming timeline offers clue
The wheels in Westeros are turning again, and there's finally a clearer hint about when the next chapter could land on fans' screens. The much-anticipated second season of ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ has set a production timeline, and that alone is enough to start connecting the dots. According to Deadline, filming for Season 2 is expected to wrap in June. If things go smoothly, that could line the show up for a 2027 premiere window. That’s the working theory right now, as nothing has been set in stone yet. A June wrap gives the creative team a decent window for post-production, especially considering the show’s detailed world-building.
On set, things are already moving. Dexter Sol Ansell, who plays young squire Egg, is currently filming his scenes. Alongside him is Peter Claffey as Ser Duncan the Tall, a towering knight with a big heart and, occasionally, bigger problems. Their pairing worked well the first time around, and the expectation is that Season 2 will push their bond into rougher territory. Additionally, three new faces are joining the mix. Lucy Boynton is stepping in as Lady Rohanne of Coldmoat, better known as the Red Widow. Babou Ceesay portrays Ser Bennis of the Brown Shield, while Peter Mullan takes on Ser Eustace Osgrey of Standfast.
Season 2 pulls its story from ‘The Sworn Sword’, written by George R.R. Martin. This particular tale thrusts Dunk and Egg into a dispute during a brutal summer drought in the Reach. There, water becomes more valuable than gold, and tempers flare fast. It’s less about massive battles and more about human choices. However, in Westeros, even a small disagreement can spiral into something much bigger before anyone can blink. Earlier this year, showrunner Ira Parker offered a glimpse into what’s ahead while speaking to The Hollywood Reporter. He confirmed, "It’ll still be six episodes. I think the scope will be the same, maybe even smaller. The budget has stayed the same, but everything is more expensive due to inflation."
Parker continued, "I’m having a lot of fun with season two. It’s going to be a different season, and, I hope, for the better." Now, with filming underway and a tentative timeline in place, the wait feels a little more structured. If everything stays on track, the idea of a 2027 release doesn’t sound far-fetched anymore. But again, nothing has been locked, and fans are now awaiting an official announcement.
