Why is 'Weakest Link' Finale not airing this week? Here's when NBC game show with host Jane Lynch will return

Jane Lynch will return to our screens on Feb 1, to utter her iconic "You are the Weakest Link. Goodbye," for one last time as season 1 wraos up.

What better way to end the awfully long Monday than to watch Jane Lynch throwing jabs and roasting the contestants on NBC's new trivia game show – 'Weakest Link'? However, if you tuned in to NBC tonight with the hopes of watching a fresh group of eight contestants embarrass themselves on national television then you're in for some disappointment. Unfortunately, there's no new episode of 'Weakest Link' this week.

Instead, you'll be greeted by a rerun of an old episode of the show. Episode 13 aka the finale episode of Season 1 of 'Weakest Link' will air on Monday, February 1, at 10/9c. The upcoming episode aptly titled 'Who Is About To Be Ghosted By This Show', will feature eight hopeful contestants battling it out to potentially win $ 1 million! The eight contestants who will be featured on the episode are: Glen Nesbitt, Kaye Roberts, Ashley Fountain, Joseph Fejeran, Colin Garstka, Alexandra Latimer, and Andrew Colford.

Hopefully, this set of contestants can bank in more money than the previous week's batch. The contestants who appeared on Episode 12 set the record of banking the lowest amount on the show by managing to amass only $43,000, out of a possible $1 million. Fans were extremely disappointed with the performance of the contestants, as they not only answered several questions wrong, but also failed to bank the money at the right time, and increase their chances of winning more money. Eventually, it boiled down to Tracey and Cecil in the final round. Tracy managed to win it all after Cecil fumbled with answering the questions in the final round.

The game show features contestants answering general knowledge questions to bank prize money across multiple rounds. At the end of each round, the contestants vote out who they perceive to be the 'Weakest Link' remaining. Although the contestants are strangers to each other, they are required to work in tandem to bank the maximum amount of prize money available in each round.

The contestants take turns to answer general knowledge questions to build chains of correct answers. Consecutive correct answers greatly increase the value of the chain, while incorrect answers break the chain and force the contestants to start over on the lowest rung with the smallest amount money. At the end of each round, contestants vote to eliminate the fellow contestant they consider to be the "Weakest Link" in the chain. The contestant who receives the highest number of votes leaves the game as Jane Lynch declares the iconic phrase, "You are the Weakest Link. Goodbye."

Season 1 finale of 'Weakest Link' will air on February 1 at 10/9c only on NBC.
