HBO announces exciting update on future of 'Industry' ahead of much-awaited Season 4 finale
It looks like more SternTao is coming our way. The investment firm founded by Harper Stern (Myha’la) and Eric Tao (Ken Leung) has always been about high stakes, and now they tend to get that much more as HBO renewed 'Industry' for a fifth and final season. Created by Mickey Down and Konrad Kay, the finance drama ends Season 4 on Sunday. The news was confirmed by a press release issued by the network ahead of the season finale. The upcoming season has yet to confirm the stars who will return.
The current roster sees a star-studded list which includes Myha’la, Marisa Abela, Kit Harington, Ken Leung, Max Minghella, Miriam Petche, Sagar Radia, Toheeb Jimoh, Charlie Heaton, Amy James-Kelly, Roger Barclay, Andrew Havill, Kiernan Shipka, Kal Penn, Jack Farthing, Stephen Campbell Moore, Claire Forlani, and Edward Holcroft.
The season finale is expected to address the revelations about Yasmin and Harper's detailed investigation into Tender's CFO. Harper was instrumental in unraveling the seedy side of the head honcho. With the frenemies also sharing a poignant moment at the end of episode 7, there's a lot to look forward to in the final chapter and the new season, which will likely provide a definitive conclusion.
There is no official confirmation on when the fifth season will drop. With a two-year gap between each of the four seasons, a 2028 date looks to be on the cards. The thriller has been a spring or fall release previously, and Season 5 might fall within an August or November release window.
The official logline for Season 4 reads, "At the top of their game and living the lives they set out to have as Pierpoint grads, Harper (Myha’la) and Yasmin (Marisa Abela) are drawn into a high-stakes, globetrotting cat-and-mouse game when a splashy fintech darling bursts onto the London scene. As Yasmin navigates her relationship with tech founder Sir Henry Muck (Kit Harington) and Harper is pulled into the orbit of enigmatic executive Whitney Halberstram (Max Minghella), their twisted friendship begins to warp and ignite under the pressure of money, power, and the desire to be on top."
Down and Kay spoke about how they had the show's end in their minds for a while. "For some time now, we have been thinking about how best to end the show on an unparalleled high. Unlike some of our characters, we know when to leave a party," they said in the statement.
"We’d like to thank our evangelical fan base, especially those who have watched from day one. Finally, we owe everything to our crew and the best cast on TV for making our writing live. The characters will live on because of their world-class performances. Seeing the HBO ident in front of our work will never stop being a thrill. It remains the best place to make television, and we look forward to continuing our collaboration well into the future."
'Industry' Season 4 finale premieres Sunday at 8 p.m. ET on HBO and HBO Max instead of its usual 9 p.m. slot.
