‘Wonder Man’ episode titles quietly confirm a new MCU addition and here's everything we know about it
Just four days away from its much-anticipated premiere, Disney+'s 'Wonder Man' is leaving no stone unturned to grab viewers' attention. Created by Destin Daniel Cretton and Andrew Guest, the superhero series recently released titles for eight episodes. While most of the titles seemed generic, one title caught fans' attention, suggesting the show is set to introduce a new hero in the MCU.
The hero in discussion is the 'Doorman.' Reportedly, the full slate of titles includes Episode 1—'Matinee,' Episode 2—'Self-Tape,' Episode 3–'Pacoima,' Episode 5–'Found Footage,' Episode 6–'Callback,' Episode 7–'Kathy Friedman,' and Episode 8–'Yucca Valley Valley,’ as per Heroic Hollywood. The 'Wonder Man' episode four, titled 'Doorman', teases a new MCU hero who can manipulate the Darkforce, allowing people to pass through solid objects as if he were a living doorway, staying true to his comic book powers.
Although Doorman's powers seem underwhelming, the Hollywood-focused 'Wonder Man' series could use him creatively, mirroring the industry's theme of opportunities opened and closed. Notably, 'Wonder Man' premieres on Tuesday, January 27, after production was delayed in 2023 due to the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes, pushing its original December 2025 release to January 2026. Unlike most Marvel series, all eight episodes will drop on the same day for binge-watching, as per GamesRadar+. Talking about the actors, the 'Wonder Man' cast features mostly newcomers to the MCU, with Ben Kingsley reprising his role as Trevor Slattery as the notable exception.
Key cast members include Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams, Zlatko Burić as Von Kovak, and Arian Moayed as P Cleary. Other actors, including Joe Pantoliano, Josh Gad, X Mayo, Byron Bowers, and Olivia Thirlby, are also part of the series, though their roles have not yet been revealed. The plot of 'Wonder Man' also remains largely a mystery, though the trailer and first-look images offer some hints. The trailer shows Williams auditioning to star in a remake of the superhero film 'Wonder Man,' alongside returning character Slattery. However, the nature of Williams' powers remains under wraps, piquing viewers' interest.
Notably, at the 'Fantastic Four' premiere, Abdul-Mateen II also spoke to Marvel Studios in character as Williams. "I grew up a really big fan of Wonder Man, a really big fan of comics," he said. "It was actually the first movie that I saw in the theaters with my father when I was very young. That day, I left the theater wanting to be a superhero. So this is it. It's amazing. This is actually a very beautiful, full-circle moment for me." When asked about Slattery, however, William was quickly whisked away.
