‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ Episode 6 hints at a rift between Dunk and Egg and we're concerned
'A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms' might have dropped its most hard-hitting chapter in the form of the recently aired episode five. Looking ahead to the upcoming sixth and final episode of the 'Game of Thrones' prequel show's debut season, it does seem like Peter Claffey's Ser Duncan the Tall is in for more trials and tribulations. HBO Max recently dropped an exclusive preview trailer for the upcoming episode, which drops on the network on Sunday, February 22, and the stakes are higher than ever.
The preview trailer for the sixth episode picks up immediately in the aftermath of Prince Baelor's shocking death. The tragedy is further deepened by the fact that, just moments before his death, Prince Baelor had congratulated Dunk for his bravery and commended him, adding that the realm needed more brave men like him. Dunk is seen weighed down by the guilt of surviving the fight, while Prince Baelor laid down his own life for him. At one point, Valarr Targaryen is seen admonishing Dunk, stating that Prince Baelor had the makings of a great king in him and asking why God would take him and not Dunk.
Elsewhere, Ser Lyonel Baratheon asks to team up with Dunk for the impending war that threatens to engulf them. At another point in the trailer, Prince Maekar informs Dunk that his younger son, Egg, has become quite fond of him. He further adds that it's time for Egg to be a squire, but he refuses to serve any knight other than Dunk. In his guilt-ridden state of mind, Dunk begs his pardon and declares that he's done with princes. Egg subsequently tells him, 'Maybe you're not the knight I thought you were.' This exchange suggests that the finale might feature a prominent split between the show's leading duo. It remains to be seen whether the two of them shall ever go back to their familiar ways.
The fifth episode saw Dunk standing up to the Trial of Seven to prove his own innocence. Following the most brutal combat ever depicted on the ongoing show, the Trial of Seven sequence instantly transported the audience back to the grim, unforgiving ethos of the original. Finn Bennett's Prince Aerion Targaryen stood tall with his coterie of knights, including his father Maekar, his alcoholic brother Daeron, and Ser Steffon Fossoway. Dunk, on the other hand, had to hastily form a crew of his own to defend his honour. In a surprising twist, Prince Baelor Targaryen joined Dunk's side at the last moment. At the end of the violent contest, Dunk emerged victorious with Prince Aerion recanting his accusations. Prince Baelor, however, didn't walk out of the fight alive after a mace crushed his head. 'A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms' is exclusively available on HBO Max.
