'Bridgerton' Season 4 part 2 soundtrack: Here's every song that set the tone for Netflix's Regency-era drama
As if the burgeoning romance between Luke Thompson's Benedict Bridgerton and Yerin Ha's Sophie Baek wasn't enough, the ongoing fourth season of 'Bridgerton' is packing a major wonder in terms of its musical score. The final batch of episodes from 'Bridgerton' Season 4 drops on Thursday on Netflix, and it would be a good idea to take a close look at the exceptional selection of music that will accompany that drama unfolding on the screen. It is interesting to note that the tracks featured in the upcoming episodes are all cover versions. Here's all that you need to know about the individual tracks from each upcoming episode.
1) Episode 405
The fifth episode of the ongoing season will kick off with the track '360' (No. 41 in Billboard Hot 100 in August 2024) by Charlie XCX, as covered by Peter Gregson. As revealed by Tudum, the cover was recorded well in advance, so choreographer Jack Murphy could design the dance routine for Hyacinth and her ballroom guests. The track evokes nostalgia for the 'brat summer' phenomenon, and music supervisor Justin Kamps commented, "This is another one where I felt like we needed to get a Charli song in here somewhere because she was still blowing up everywhere."
'Birds of a Feather' (No. 2 in October 2024) by Billie Eilish is the second track to be featured on the episode, and was covered by Gemini Strings. The final song featured in this episode is the Teddy Swims No. 1 hit 'Lose Control,' covered by the Vitamin String Quartet.
2) Episode 406
'Just What I Needed' (No. 27) by The Cars was covered by Altum Quartet. The song works really well with the characters arriving at Cressida Cowper's ball. Moving on, as Francesca and her husband, the Earl of Kilmartin, John Stirling, take a break from the ball and step out to bask in the moonlight, a cover of the Sting song 'Fields of Gold' by Music Lab Collective starts playing. Kamps explained, "It's a beautiful, nostalgic song about thinking back on times gone by and love, and I think that it plays really well in that moment for them as they stare off and hope for the best of their future."
3) Episode 407
This episode breaks the hitherto established pattern by featuring no tracks or covers. This goes a long way to highlight the grief of the Bridgerton family. The only music that's heard is the lilting background score composed by Kris Bowers. "We didn’t want to have some cover take away from that emotion. It didn’t seem like the right episode," said Kamps.
4) Episode 408
The Season 4 finale episode features a cover of 'Never Be the Same' (Hot 100 No. 6) originally recorded by Camila Cabello, orchestrated by Strings From Paris. The cover accompanies the much-anticipated steamy bathtub scene involving both Benedict and Sophie. The final track to play out is the immensely popular 'The Night We Met' (No. 84) by Lord Huron, covered by Joni Fuller. The song plays out as Benedict asks Sophie to join him on her first official dance at the queen's ball for Lady Danbury.
Justifying the use of this particular song, Kamps remarked, "If you look at the lyrics, it’s more of a bittersweet, sad, looking-back-at-the-night we-met kind of vibe, but this cover by Joni Fuller is so beautiful, and, obviously, they did go through a lot of heartbreak. The cover offers a chance to think back on maybe if things had gone differently, they could have been in this moment sooner." All seasons and episodes of 'Bridgerton' are exclusively available on Netflix.
