'The Super Mario Galaxy Movie' has announced a special treat for fans ahead of the film's theatrical release on Wednesday. Audiences will get to see the anthropomorphic red fox, Fox McCloud, in the adventure comedy film, but there's no word yet on who has voiced the fan-favorite character. Ever since 'The Super Mario Galaxy Movie' trailer featured a blink-and-you-miss glimpse of Fox McCloud, eagle-eyed fans started speculating over his inclusion in the animated film. The upcoming movie is a sequel to 2023's smash hit 'The Super Mario Bros. Movie,' which earned over $ 1 billion at the box office. Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic return as co-directors for the film, with Matthew Fogel resuming his duties as screenwriter.

On Thursday, the film's social media accounts shared a poster featuring McCloud in his signature jumpsuit, combat vest, and headset. The caption read "Let’s rock and roll! Fox McCloud joins The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, only in theaters April 1. Get tickets now." The space pilot was introduced in the 1993 adventure game 'Star Fox' and has appeared in every installment of the 'Super Smash Bros.' video game franchise since its launch in 1999. Over the years, he has gained a cult following among gamers, with his addition fueling rumors of a stand-alone 'Super Smash Bros.' film.

'The Super Mario Galaxy Movie' also includes other popular characters from the Nintendo games. Yoshi, the beloved green dinosaur from 'Super Mario Bros.' games, will also accompany Mario and Luigi on their latest adventure in the sequel. His potential appearance was first hinted at in the post-credits scene of 'The Super Mario Bros. Movie' with a shot of the polka-dotted egg cracking. McCloud will be joined by the 'Pikmin' protagonist, Captain Olimar, who was also announced to have joined the expanding cast.

Following the events of the first film, the sequel will see Mario and Luigi take off on another exciting adventure. As per the film's official premise, "Mario and Luigi meet and befriend Yoshi as they join Princess Peach and Toad on an adventure into outer space and across the galaxy. They meet Rosalina and face off against Bowser and his son, Bowser Jr." The voice cast for the upcoming film comprises Chris Pratt as Mario, Charlie Day as Luigi, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek, Donald Glover as Yoshi, and Brie Larson as Princess Rosalina. Moreover, Jack Black reprises his role as Bowser, and Benny Safdie joins the cast as his son, Bowser Jr. The film is produced by Chris Meledandri of Illumination and Shigeru Miyamoto, the franchise creator, and will be distributed by Universal Pictures. The miniseries can be streamed on FX on Hulu.
