What is 'secrecy clause'? Ex-Royal staff urges for cancellation of NDA for them to speak against 'Harry & Meghan'
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Netflix's docuseries 'Harry & Meghan' has not just been snubbed by celebrities and royal family members but Buckingham Palace staff as well. Several former employees have been pressuring the palace to lift the confidentiality agreements so that they can clap back at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's allegations against the royal family. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have claimed in the Netflix documentary that the Palace provided no protection to them and instead played part in "dirty games" by "planting stories."
It is mandatory for all the former employees of the Palace to sign non-disclosure agreements before quitting or losing their job. These documents restrict them from speaking anything about the royal family or the Palace. However, now with the coming of Netflix's documentary 'Harry & Meghan' the former employees want a chance to at least narrate their side of the story. In order to do so, the Royal palace needs to lift the 'secrecy clause.' Let us further take a look at what the secrecy clause is.

What is the secrecy clause of Royal Family?
The secrecy clause is the non-disclosure agreement that is made to sign by every employee of the royal family. The employees of the royal household get to know details of what's happening inside of the Palace, either directly or indirectly. In order to prevent this information from leaking to the public Daily Mail reports that the employees, before leaving or being terminated from the job, are forced to sign the non-disclosure agreement, also referred to as the 'secrecy clause' by the employees. This restricts the former members or employees of the royal household to spill anything about the palace or the members of the Royal family to the public or press. If anyone breaches the agreement, the Royal family has the right to sue the particular person.
Former employees want Royal Palace to lift NDA
Former employees of the royal palace, referring to themselves as 'The Sussex Survivors' Club' want the "opportunity to correct them (Harry and Meghan)." However, due to the NDA, they are not being able to reveal anything. Therefore, the former employees urge the palace to lift the NDA so that they can correct Harry and Meghan's claims made in the Netflix documentary.
The reports claim that the Palace is not going to take any action or reply to Harry and Meghan's claims because the palace is "concerned about exacerbating this war of attrition with the duke and duchess." The source says that the Palace "feel it is wrong for them to speak for former staff, then let them do it themselves. They have plenty to say."
The royal couple Harry and Meghan claimed in Netflix's trailer that "no one knows the full truth. We know the full truth." Clapping back to their claims, a former employee of the royal palace claimed, "They always use vague terms 'the truth', 'my truth'." Furthermore, the trailer had clips of the Princess of Wales being chased by paparazzi. However, according to Daily Mail, a source said that the depiction of the clip is "untrue" and "dangerous." Moreover, the shot showing press harassment of the Duke and Duchess was claimed to be "unrelevant" as they shot at a very different event and had no connection with the royal palace. Putting out the rage toward the 'Harry & Meghan' documentary, a source claimed, "But for the Royal Family, the stakes are high and they are not on a level playing field as they don't feel that they can answer back."
Netflix’s ‘Harry & Meghan’ will release on Netflix on December 8. The first volume will be followed by volume II, which is scheduled to release on December 15, and includes three episodes.
