'The Batman: Part II' has added another industry heavyweight to its impressive cast. Veteran actor Charles Dance has been roped in to join Matt Reeves' gritty world. As per Deadline, the actor will be seen as Harvey Dent's father, Christopher Dent. Dance is known for portraying Tywin Lannister in the second, third, and fourth seasons of HBO's 'Game of Thrones.' Dance brought the necessary chivalry and charm to the otherwise ruthless character. His portrayal earned unanimous acclaim from fans and critics alike. Christopher Dent is among the lesser-known characters of the DC Universe, and his inclusion will certainly give fans something to be excited about.

'The Batman: Part II' will be led by Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader, and Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle, aka Catwoman. Most of the other cast members from the first film will be back to reprise their roles. 'The Batman' was universally praised for its gritty, realistic portrayal of Gotham City and its close adherence to the comics. The film featured Jeffery Wright as Jim Gordon, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Andy Serkis as Alfred, and an unrecognizable Colin Farrell as the Penguin. The sequel will also feature Sebastian Stan as Gotham's District Attorney Harvey Dent, and Scarlett Johansson as Dent’s wife.

'The Batman: Part II’ will be released in cinemas globally on October 1, 2027. The project was announced during CinemaCon in April 2022, but since then, it has been delayed multiple times. Initially, there were reports of the film releasing in 2025, which got delayed to 2026, until the 2027 release was confirmed. In between, the studios released 'The Penguin,' a series based on the titular character. The show was showered with praises for expanding the scope of Gotham beyond Batman and exploring the often-overlooked characters.

Fans may have similar expectations with 'The Batman: Part II.' The details of the plot and characters have been kept under wraps for now, so it's hard to say whether Christopher Dent will be a friend or foe to Bruce Wayne. However, in multiple comics and 'Batman: The Animated Series,' this character has been shown as an alcoholic who terrorizes his family. In another rendition, the character is a wealthy politician who locks away his innocent son to protect his reputation. Harvey Dent's iconic two-faced coin also has its origin in Christopher Dent, as the coin initially belonged to him and was passed on to Harvey. Whether Christopher Dent is a dark or grey character in 'The Batman: Part II' will only be revealed on October 1, 2027. The actor was last seen in Guillermo del Toro’s 'Frankenstein,' as Dr. Frankenstein’s father, and in 'The Day of the Jackal' as Timothy Winthorp. 'The Batman' and 'The Penguin' are available for streaming on Max.
