'The Batman' star Paul Dano broke the silence on Quentin Tarantino's diss of his performance in Paul Thomas Anderson’s 'There Will Be Blood'. Not holding back his thoughts, the director called Dano the  “weakest f*****g actor in SAG." Defending him were major Hollywood names, and with the spotlight shining bright on the actor, one of the talking points was whether he would reprise his role as the Riddler in the sequel.

Whether Dano returns after essaying the antagonist in 'The Batman' remains unanswered at the time of writing. What is confirmed is that Scarlett Johansson is reportedly in talks to join the film in an undisclosed role. Dano's villain was last seen talking to the Joker (Barry Keoghan). As for his response to Tarantino, "That was really nice," Dano told Variety. "I was also incredibly grateful that the world spoke up for me, so I didn’t have to."

In related news, the director Matt Reeves shed light on the upcoming film. “It’s been a journey that is taking longer than I would’ve wanted for a lot of reasons, a lot of personal reasons,” Reeves told The Hollywood Reporter on the Emmys red carpet this weekend. “But [the] most important reason is getting it to a place where I just felt like it was the best script we could write.”

Reeves also spoke of Pattinson's take on the script. "He’s Batman, and if he doesn’t like it, not good,” the Cloverfield director said of Pattinson’s feelings on the script. “I was super excited. I thought that he really would [like it] because the things that it does for his character, for Batman, and for Bruce, have never been done before in this way. I had a feeling that he would respond in this way, but the fact that he did was incredibly encouraging."

"Obviously, because of what the first movie was and what this movie is, which is so much a detective story, the idea of trying to protect the secrets of the movie is super important because it’s a mystery. It would be an extra level of heartbreak if that part of it started getting out.”

'The Batman: Part II' is slated to go on floors early this year and is slated to release on October 1, 2027. In the meantime, it wil be interesting to see whether Dano will reprise his role in the sequel, and who Johansson plays.
