What happened to 'HGTV 2024 Dream Home'? Florida property faces major obstacles before move-in
ANASTASIA ISLAND, FLORIDA: The 'HGTV 2024 Dream Home' has hit a major stumbling block just before its scheduled move-in date. According to local broadcaster Action News Jax, St. Augustine officials have halted the home's clearance process. While the house seems almost ready for its lucky new occupant, certain improvements apparently lacked proper approval. As a result, it is not currently approved by the St Augustine Planning and Zoning Board.
The addition in question is an existing seawall around the residence. It just never had clearance to be added. As of this week, the board has opted to defer the decision on approving or rejecting the property as a whole. The city believes that because the residence is situated near a wildlife conservation zone, it "discourages the disturbance of natural shorelines."
There are also concerns about the home's pool deck, which violates the city's conservation zone regulations. The board is requesting extra time for approval for the house. However, more than 100 million people have already entered the contest. With the contest's deadline of February 15 approaching, it is unclear how the home's clearance procedure will proceed.
