Tell Me Lies’ Season 3 Episode 4 begins with Diana moving through her days like nothing is wrong, even though almost everything is. She easily sets up the appointment for an abortion, although she is agitated about having to go through pre-counseling for the procedure. She shares this with Molly, trusting her enough to speak freely. Molly, thinking that she is doing the right thing, tells Evan about Diana’s pregnancy. But she warns him to keep it under wraps, which is funny given the fact that Evan has already had thin patience with Stephen. So Evan talks. And once Stephen knows, there’s no putting the secret back.

Stephen faces Diana, not just angry that she didn’t tell him, but furious that she would make such a choice without involving him. He then tries to push her into keeping the baby, advising that it could somehow repair her broken relationship with her father, but Diana does not budge. She insists the matter is now closed and then berates him by saying the abortion will be the 'highlight of her year.' Stephen leaves, upset with his pride bruised. Elsewhere, Bree's got her own mess. After receiving her text, Oliver pulls her into his office, expecting control. He doesn't get it. Bree comes at him straight, calling him a predator, saying that he should stop exploiting students.

With a poker face on, she also says she went to the dean about him. Oliver doesn't bat an eye. He coolly dissects the bluff, letting her know he's been to the dean, and then changes tack. He goes low, going for Bree's past and bringing her childhood trauma into the present. He frames her as needy and insecure. While Bree tries to resist at first, the words seep in anyway. That's the damage. Bree is shaken and begins questioning how others perceive her, including Evan. Fortunately for her, Wrigley comes to reassure her that others have not perceived her as weak, at least not Evan. The next morning, Bree finds clarity when she discovers what happened with Chris. Evan is unlike Oliver in more ways than one.

He owned up to his actions and gave Bree space and time without any conditions. It brings Bree back to Evan. Meanwhile, Lucy continues to move based on instinct rather than thought. When Alex suddenly asks her out, she readily agrees without stopping to consider why. At the bar, she’s nervous, but Alex then disarms her. That comfort shatters when Lucy lays eyes on Max with another woman in the corner of the bar. She tells Alex that she has been awful to Max, even when he was nice to her, and that she owes him an apology. Alex pushes her to do it immediately, questioning her sincerity when she hesitates. So Lucy walks over.

The apology is clumsy and primarily for her own ease. Moreover, still smarting from Diana’s rejection, Stephen reaches out to Caitie, Chris’ victim, who decides to reopen her case. But Lucy refuses to cooperate. Stephen then takes it to the next level by opening a public page to condemn Chris and naming Caitie and Lucy as victims. Still, Lucy takes Diana’s advice to remain silent. The episode also hints that Bree is hiding something much more serious than anyone can possibly imagine. After her encounter with Oliver, she can’t quite settle. When Wrigley drops by her room to grab Pippa, he finds Bree half-lost in thought. He notices right away that something is off and tries to lighten the mood.

Even so, the tension doesn’t fade. And then the episode closes in the 2015 timeline at Bree and Evan’s wedding. Stephen watches them dancing, disappointed. His presence barely lands, especially after Lucy shuts down any curiosity about his life with Lydia and calls out how little he’s changed. Bree unsettles him further with a pointed comment about not letting one mistake define a life. Later, subtle moments between Bree and Wrigley raise quiet questions, ones Pippa seems to understand. Stephen notices, too. And he starts digging. The next chapter isn’t far off. According to Decider, ‘Tell Me Lies’ Season 3, Episode 5 will be available to stream on Hulu beginning Tuesday, January 27.
