'High Potential' 2 Episode 13 recap: Karadec's relationship takes major leap and Morgan gets the credit
After a month off the air, the March 3 episode of ‘High Potential’ wasted no time stirring the pot. Viewers tuned in expecting a gentle reentry. Instead, they got relationship talks, discussions about future plans, a shocking reveal tied to a 16-year-old kidnapping, heaps of romantic tension, and a case involving a high-tech car dealership. The episode saw the team investigating Joaquin's death after it was made to look like he died in a car crash. However, the bullet in his chest led the detectives to the killer. Elsewhere, Karadec (Daniel Sunjata) and Lucia (Susan Kelechy Watson), who were last seen being cautious about their relationship, spoke about moving in together. Lucia floated the idea of finding a new place, something that belongs to both of them. Still, she did not want to rush it. That much was clear. She acknowledged that their connection “feels different” now, stronger somehow, and Karadec agreed.
When Lucia asked what sparked the shift in him, Karadec credited Morgan (Kaitlin Olson). He said, “I think it has a lot to do with my new partner. She helped me see some things that I didn't.” Lucia replied, “I should thank her.” And that’s where viewers collectively narrowed their eyes. Because in this series, nothing stays tidy for long. Even when two people appear to be on the same page, a twist seems to be right around the corner. It all seemed so open, direct, and almost too peaceful. Which naturally makes one wonder when the rug will be yanked out from under them. Showrunner Todd Harthan didn’t exactly calm those nerves during his chat with TVLine.
He pointed out that, “What's interesting about [Karadec and Lucia's] dynamic is now he's become the man that she always wanted him to be, and she is 100% committed to him... but he does have this other very important person in his life who happens to be a beautiful woman.” You know who. According to him, “I don't think Karadec is apprehensive, but he's one to take things slow, and I think she's all in for sure. I don't know if you can feel it in the air in that episode, but it's not going to be the smoothest path to what she wants.” Meanwhile, over in the thriller corner of the episode, the long-running arc reached a boiling point. For months, fans have watched an unsettling figure stalking Morgan and her family.
In the latest episode, he was spotted spying on them from across the street, binoculars in hand. That’s where Arthur proved himself useful. He managed to sneak up on the man and tase him. For a brief second, it seemed like vigilante justice had won the day. But detective Soto soon called Morgan with news: Arthur had been arrested. Before being taken away, Arthur revealed that the man he attacked, the same unsettling figure who’s been lurking, is allegedly responsible for Roman’s abduction 16 years ago. Episode 14 is set to air on March 10.
