What day and time will 'The Family Stallone' release? And everything else you need to know
PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: Sylvester Stallone has played some of Hollywood's most iconic roles for over 50 years — and now he's ready to play himself in 'The Family Stallone', although reluctantly. The 76-year-old 'Rocky' franchise actor stars with his wife Jennifer Flavin Stallone and the couple's three kids, all in their twenties: Sophia, Sistine, and Scarlet in the Paramount+ reality series.
Is it any wonder that Sylvester is a camera hog after 50 years in show business? "Yet he sees a camera, and he's like, 'Am I in the frame?'" quips his daughter Sistine in the new teaser, referring to the revered action star's apparent opposition to the concept of a family reality show. MTV Entertainment Studios produces 'The Family Stallone'. Executive producers include Benjamin Hurvitz, Jessica Zalkind, Nadim Amiry, Julie Pizzi, Farnaz Farjam, and Jonathan Singer. Co-executive producers include Lauren Goldstein, Valana Hunn, Chris Ray, and Jason Williams.

Who is on 'The Family Stallone'?
The unscripted series will introduce fans to Sylvester's wife, Jennifer, an entrepreneur and co-owner of the Serious Skin Care health brand. In addition, viewers will meet the couple's three daughters, who are all on different paths: Sophia, who is still finding her focus and co-hosts the 'Unwaxed' podcast with Sistine; Sistine, an actress, and model, is putting together her first feature film; and Scarlet, who is working on her acting career while attending college. She made an appearance in Season 1 of 'Tulsa King'.
The new teaser gives viewers a look at the Stallone family at home and at business. But they aren't the only recognizable characters in the play; Al Pacino and Dolph Lundgren make brief appearances.
What is 'The Family Stallone' all about?
Sylvester gives his family some emotional advice at the start of the first teaser for the new series 'The Family Stallone'. "It's not about how hard you hit," he says. "It's all about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward." However, as they all prepare to enter the reality television arena when the series begins on Paramount+ on May 17, the Oscar-nominated actor may be the one who needs the pep talk.
The clip shows Sylvester grooming the family's calico cat and giving fatherly advice when he's not eating pizza with actor buddies Al Pacino and Dolph Lundgren.
Viewers learn a little bit about each of the three daughters: Sophia, the oldest daughter, is a big-hearted perfectionist, Sistine is a risk-taker, and Scarlet, the youngest daughter, is a self-avowed scene-stealer.
"We’re in our early 20s. It doesn’t get much better than this," says Sistine in the teaser. "Brain-wise, body-wise, looks-wise, we’re at our peak, ladies." Sophia discusses the pressures of her surname in the trailer. "Being the oldest, I’ve always had this pressure of being very perfect," she explained, adding, "Dating with the last name that I have is incredibly hard. Being a Stallone, it holds a lot of weight."
Jennifer, who married her husband more than 25 years ago (and temporarily divorced him last year), is portrayed as the family's 'queen'. Jennifer tells her kids in one of the trailer's moments, "I know we're insane, I know we're crazy, but we love each other so much."
When Sylvester is in the frame, he's frequently giving inspiring advice and motivational quotations like a living, breathing self-help book. At other times, he welcomes their dog to the dinner table with the rest of the family, which includes his wife and other daughters. In another scene, Sylvester enters a crowded kitchen and says to the other four, "I can't believe you guys are actually doing a reality show."
The eight-episode series promises viewers "a seat at the table of one of Hollywood's most famous families," per a statement from Paramount+. "After playing some of the most legendary characters in cinematic history, three-time Academy Award nominee Sylvester Stallone is ready to give cameras access to what he would consider the greatest role of his lifetime: dad."
What is the buzz around 'The Family Stallone'?
In February, Sylvester and his daughters pitched the documentary in a Paramount+ Super Bowl commercial after telling reporters, including PEOPLE, that the eight-part docuseries "is going to shock people, for sure."
"Because a lot of times people say, 'Oh, reality TV?' and, you know, 'Does he need a job or something?'" he explained in November. "I'm feeling I have this resurgence go on. My time for this will show me, what it's like, not when you're Oprah or retired. It's the ultimate home movie, I'll say."
The 'Rocky' actor stated that family is "all that matters," adding, "In life, I just want to set my dreams and aspirations, and now it's their turn." "I'm not going to be around forever, so I'm embracing being cool, which means I have to take a lot of you know what," Sylvester said. "But, it's worth it."
Sylvester told The Hollywood Reporter that their marital difficulties will "of course" be part of the program after Jennifer filed for divorce in August, and they reunited a month later. "It's the John Lennon thing: 'Life is what happens when you're making other plans,'" he said. "Hopefully you're involved with people who understand the foibles of life and the fragility of it and how rare a real good relationship is."
"Sometimes I put the work ahead of [my family], and that is a tragic mistake which won't happen again," Sylvester continued.
'The Family Stallone' comes on Paramount+ on May 17.
