HBO drops 'Westworld' Season 3 release date in new teaser video and announces a 'critical event' is coming up
'Westworld' fans have reason to rejoice as HBO has finally revealed when the show's highly-anticipated third season will be arriving in a new teaser. That's right, prepare for a whole new season with an epic new status quo, arriving in just a few months.
The short teaser for the new season that dropped online on January 12 reveals that Season 3 will debut on March 15.
The video features a large number of dates marking important moments, including political assassinations, nuclear attacks, and the impeachment of the 45th President of the United States before ominously stating that something called the "System" has been initiated and that a "Critical Event" has occurred, which might have something to do with how the last season ended.
Major spoilers for Season 2 up ahead. Read on at your own peril.
HBO is currently keeping plot details for Season 3 under wraps but when we last saw Dolores Abernathy (Evan Rachel Wood) and Bernard Lowe (Jeffrey Wright), they were beginning a new chapter outside the park. It's heavily implied that this might actually be the critical event alluded to in the teaser.
"We do know that Dolores has taken a lot of pearls with her," Wood told ComicBook in 2019. "Who are those pearls? I don't know. I know there's also a mystery pearl in the Hale body because once Dolores got out of Hale and rebuilt herself and rebuilt Bernard she kept the Hale body and that Hale is now going out into the real world with her but we have no idea who's in there."
This season, Aaron Paul ('Breaking Bad'); Vincent Cassel ('Black Swan'); Lena Waithe ('The Chi', 'Master of None'); Scott Mescudi ('How to Make it in America'); and Marshawn Lynch will be joining the show's ensemble cast.
'Westworld' Season 3 arrives on HBO on March 15.
