Netflix is set to release an action movie starring Michael Jai White titled 'Welcome to Sudden Death'. This is a remake/sequel of Jean-Claude Van Damme's 90s flick 'Sudden Death'. Here is everything we know about the film's upcoming release on the giant streamer.

'Welcome to Sudden Death' releases on September 29, 2020.

Plot

The synopsis reads, "When a world leader is taken hostage at a major sports event, a member of the security personnel injects himself into the fray and will stop at nothing until he takes down the terrorist group responsible."

White is known for his role as the titular character in 'Black Dynamite' (2009), as Al Simmons from 'Spawn' (1997), Gambol from 'The Dark Knight' (2008), and Lewis Strutt from 'Exit Wounds' (2001). White has been nominated for two Black Reel Awards — one in 2010 for Best Screenplay, Original or Adapted for 'Black Dynamite' which he shared with Scott Sanders and Byron Minns and one in 2013 for Outstanding Television or Mini-Series Performance, Male for 'Somebody's Child' (2012).

His other recent works include 'Arrow' (2013-2019), 'Undercover Brother 2' (2019), 'Black-ish' (2020), and 'Take Back' which is in post-production. The actor has six other releases in post-production: 'Send It!', 'Batman: Soul of the Dragon', 'The Outlaw Johnny Black', 'The Hit', 'HeadShop' and 'Assault on VA-33'.

Eklund is known for his roles as Michael Foster from 'The Call' (2013), Geoffrey Burton from 'Errors of the Human Body' (2012), Eadeweard Muybridge from 'Eadeweard' (2015) and Bobby from 'The Divide' (2011). He will be in the now completed release 'The Farm' as Ekles with his recent works being 'Van Helsing' (2018-2019), 'Legends of Tomorrow' (2020), and 'Bright Hill Road' which is in post-production.

In 2019 Eklund won a Leo Award for Best Guest Performance by a Male in a Dramatic Series for 'Van Helsing.' Some of his other Leo Awards include Best Supporting Performance by a Male in a Motion Picture for 'The Call' and for Best Lead Performance by a Male in a Feature Length Drama for 'Errors of the Human Body' in 2013.

Other members of the cast include Gary Owen, Gillian White as Gamma, Stephanie Sy and Psi, Kristen Harris as the Mayor, Anthony Grant as Milli, Sabryn Rock as Diana, Marrese Crump, Dennis Scullard, and many more.

Creators

The film is directed and written by Dallas Jackson. Griff Furst and Kim Todd serve as producers with Rhonda Baker serving as a co-producer.

The movie is an action-comedy involving a security guard, many stunt action scenes and overexaggerated hilarity. It shows the determination of one man who seems to stop at nothing in his pursuit of bad guys.
