'Was it Love' Episode 16 sees Noh Ae-jeong (Song Ji-hyo) and Oh Dae-o (Son Ho-jun) face the consequences of Jennifer Song's anger for taking Ryu Jin away from her company. She leaks information about Ae-jeong and Dae-o's past and also pushes for speculation that Dae-o aka popular author Cheon Eok-man abandoned his pregnant girlfriend. The gossip also speculates that Eok-man also bad-mouthed his girlfriend in his debut novel after ditching his girlfriend. Of course, what had happened in real life was caused by a misunderstanding on both Dae-o and Ae-jeong's side but the gossip is directed to ruin Ae-jeong's life and her upcoming film starring Ryu Jin and Joo Ah-rin in lead roles.

As she had wanted, all the negative buzz around this movie along with the fact that Ae-jeong's former boss also stole all the money that the company had in the account ends up affecting the film. Dae-o also doesn't want the movie based on his debut novel to be made because he has learned the truth. So instead, he tells Ae-jeong that he doesn't believe he should be a part of the film. He also tells her that she shouldn't make the film in the first place, however, she doesn't seem convinced.

Instead, Dae-o ends up going directly to the producer Koo Pa-do and convinces him to produce the film that Ae-jeong had originally wanted to make. The cast from the film that they are currently working on and the entire team can remain the same while he can step back without worrying about ruining Ae-jeong's first project. He does all of this without letting Ae-jeong know about it and he also decides to leave town for a while. He doesn't tell Ae-jeong about this either until she hears the news about their film getting postponed indefinitely and comes in search of him.

That's when he convinces her to wait for him for a little while and tells her that he wants to leave, to write the truth about their love story. He also doesn't want to stay around Ha-nee and Ae-jeong because he thinks the reporters will continue to hound him and everyone around him. He says by leaving them just for a bit, he will be able to get some writing done and the controversy will blow over as well. He explains that he is not leaving her forever, but just taking a break.

Ha-nee, after seeing Dae-o close by and watching her parents fall in love again, doesn't believe what is being printed online as news. So when Dae-o meets her and tells her that everything was a result of a misunderstanding on both Ae-jeong and his side, she is shocked but also glad that she was right about Dae-o. She doesn't accept Dae-o as her father and in fact, repeats to him that she doesn't need a father because her mother has done a splendid job of being a father to her as well. Until the very end, Ha-nee stands by her decision and helps her mother find her happy ending with Dae-o but to Ha-nee, her mother will always remain her father as always.

As a way of signifying this decision of Ha-nee, we see her grow up and walk down the aisle accompanied not by Dae-o but by Ae-jeong. Of course, you are curious about who Ha-nee marries in the show and if Dae-o returned to Ae-jeong. Turns out Dong-chan was successful in confessing his feelings to her as he is the groom. And Dae-oh returns after two years, to watch a more successful Ae-jeong doing what she loves best while he managed to publish a book under a different pen name called 'Last Love'.

The show ends on a happy note, but just not how one would have expected. It is definitely better for the change.
